Above is Mr Taiwo Oyedele advocating against the indiscriminate excessive taxation policy of government when he was not yet in the system. Today is he is shalaying the same evil

He is not only heading the Tinubu’s government neck-constricting taxation policy, but also championing policies that will further suffocate ordinary Nigerians with gusto using all manner of dubious explanations that are incongruent with modern day economic realities.

He is now defending what he criticized 2019-20 in 2025 even though the tax is now more higher(10%). Not minding if what you are supporting now is bringing additional suffering and hard times to the ordinary Nigerians just because it favours you.

It’s funny how our values, morality principles and moral uprightness often change suddenly once people are privileged to be in power. Now, he seems to have retrograde amnesia that no government has ever become wealthy by taxing poverty? Men of zero principles and double standards.
You deliberately spread misinformation.

Yes it was and is true that Mr Taiwo Oyedele advocated against the indiscriminate excessive taxation policy of government when he was not yet in the system.

And today he is championing the harmonization of the tax system (and not the excessive taxation of the Nigeria people).

He is championing a tax system that removes the multiple taxation currently being experienced.

Do not spread misinformation. It does not do you any good.

You deliberately concocted this misinformation. This is libel and blackmail.

Tinubu till 2031.

I just want people to understand that Taiwo Oyedele is not more powerful than your Senators, House of Reps members. Let's learn to direct our concern to the proper place. The guy can be sacked tomorrow by Tinubu but the person who represents you are those people. They are the ones that can challenge you.
Please shut up abeg!

You are talking about the senators Tinubu and the INEC fraudulent chairman used glitches results to announce winners?

I don't know why most of you are like this?

Each and everyone in Nigeria knows the cause of the problem but most of you will be speaking from both sides of your mouth.

Must you be a HYPOCRITE?

I love him Tinubu but on this note I now understand he is d dead shop sinking Nigeria backwards for years 😭

Racoon:
"Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s political career reveals a consistent pattern of double standards, where he often opposed economic policies as an opposition figure only to adopt the same measures once in power.

-1). Tinubu opposed Obasanjo’s fuel tax as well as price hikes in the early 2000s, yet reintroduced fuel-related levies in 2023.

-2). Tinubu challenged Obasanjo’s VAT regime along with federal revenue control, but now promotes VAT harmonization together with stronger federal tax authority.

-3). Tinubu condemned Jonathan’s fuel subsidy removal in 2012 while mocking the SURE-P palliative schemes, yet removed the subsidy while rolling out cash transfers in 2023.

-4). Tinubu supported Buhari’s refusal to devalue the naira in addition to warning against VAT increases in 2021 (“let the poor breathe”), yet unified exchange rates while expanding taxation as president.

-5). Tinubu once criticized IMF/World Bank prescriptions including subsidy removal, devaluation, privatisation, as well as tax reforms. Ironically, they are now central to his administration.

-6). Even Tinubu's warnings against excessive borrowing have been reversed, given that his government has taken new loans to fund reforms.

Now, If Tinubu claims that the policies he once antagonized but now embraces will move Nigeria forward, it implies that for all these years Tinubu have been among those dragging Nigeria backward through blind or politically motivated opposition rather than principled critique...." Your insult does not do anything. Look at the larger picture. Taiwo is not the problem. He is an appointee. If you don't understand how an appointee, including a minister is not more powerful than those who were elected, please direct your anger to your miseducation.

Do not forget that when recently Peter Obi suggested that the government should seek help militarily to fight terrorism, this same government called it witch hunting. What has happened now? The same government claiming to have collaborated with the American military? We are still waiting for Bayo Onanuga to swallow his pride, apologize to Mr. Obi and the whole of the country.

He's an employee of the govt now and can talk shiit. I engaged him on LinkedIn and he shut it at some point. I may not be a tax consultant but I had the background knowledge of taxation up to university level. Another shallow-minded guy is Fasua, who used to be number one critic of the previous administration on the economy. These guys should never have been allowed to near government cos they'd mess it up.

All these funds we heard they are distributing to Politicians to join APC, if Bola Ahmed Tinubu invest it in the masses effectively, won't he get far more votes than favour from these politicians? Why are Nigerian politicians just wicked and unreasonable?

The entire machinery of the government in power lacks integrity led by the President himself who fought hard against subsidy removal. Two years after that fight he has failed to tell us what has changed that led him back to the vomit

He is right.

The new tax law does not tax poverty but the rich.

If you are poor, you will pay no tax

If you are rich you pay a fair tax.

Too many sheeps just listening to propagandists
You cant even read what the tax law says but u can run to insult pple....

govt classified tax exempt and poor pple as those earning 800k per year and below ....but that's after destroying this economy and value of naira

800 per year is just 66k per month....oga do u know what 66k is today ??....minimum wage is 70k ..what that means is no one is escaping .....not even cleaners, pepper sellers, suya sellers.....

Classifying those earning 66k per month as poor is an evil deceptive assessment in this current economy......such person is almost dead

Nobody is exempted from tax based on the current classification.......u are being deceived .

Many nigerians are like this. They sell their conscience once they have access to resources just so that they are not cut off from such access. This is the reason why VDM and peter obi will keep shining because good morals is a virtue and many nigerians do not have it...

Do not be deceived by that rubbish they are saying that they will not tax the poor. The poor will eventually bear the brunt of this new tax regime as businesses will transfer the costs to them and the prices of goods n services will eventually increase.
They removed subsidy, increased power rates, and now they want to further tighten their grip by introducing ambiguous taxation that will make more money available to then to steal without any form of accountability. Now tell me, how have all the previously introduced policies affected the masses?
Re: Taiwo Oyedele Old & Present Tweets On Chronic Government Taxation Policies by RedChair: 4:29pm On Dec 27, 2025
I wonder why they don't increase the tax net to capture more people instead of increasing the percentage tax.

This government just keeps stubbornly strangulating the citizens. Stubbornly.

We are just going to donate more money for more stealing.

Against all cries and tears, he must just have his way without recourse nor empathy for those he claims to lead.

I will never descend to the level of HYPOCRITE in Nigeria.

This is the reason why we can never have a good system, because people like you prefer to pretend by pointing at irrelevant things when they actually know the real cause of our problems.

Continue with your Hypocrisy but go and ask the people in the North why they are where they are today.

You are just venting. Taiwo is an appointee of the President. The person who has more power than him is the person you voted. But it seems that concept is difficult to understand. Why will I be wasting my time with Taiwo when I did not elect him? Did Taiwo pass the bill into law? Or I have senators who are not doing their checks and balances that is expected of them on the executives? Hypocrisy is when you know where the solution lies but you are wasting your time on the wrong things.

I'm only asking you to calm down and access situation before rushing to comment on things you have no full grasp of.. I'm never a fan of APC but the tax guy is right on this.. His comment in 2019 is fact and different from his action now.. Vat in 2019 was on almost all services which will increase inflation, affect production and increase poverty but vat operation exempt almost 80% of what was intended in 2019 thereby moderating inflation, reduce currency exposure and bolster production.. Understanding things before rushing to comment will help u a great deal.. I'm a fan of u still cos you have the capacity of a good hearted citizen and not like the usual zombies and agabdorians..

This is a great submission.
The earlier we removed emotions and learn to channel our grievances rightly through our assembly men and hold them accountable for the performance of the executives because they have oversight function over them, the better the government will be responsive to us

Oga you're the uneducated one here instead.
Use your brain.
The tax rate is even too high for a country who has majority of its citizens living below the poverty line.
They say poor people (anybody earning 800k annually or 67k monthly), won't pay tax, meaning that a family man with 4 kids earning 68k to 300k monthly which is not even enough to cater for the family will have his salary slashed because they feel by their definition he's not poor.
Nigerians are just too docile.

I don't know why some people like supporting rvbish. The kind of inflation that will hit people next year is still doing press up
You can imagine a local manufacturer like dangote paying tax of over 40% on cement and passing it on to the consumers. The Inflation is inevitable, hence d high cost of dangote cement compared to other countries where it's exported to.

Now imagine how this will affect the prices of goods and services going forward from 2026 with the enforcement of the new tax law.
Thats some serious inflation brewing up there.
And we are just docile about it instead of being proactive.
Tax should not be more than 10% of PBT, in a country like Nigeria with enormous natural resources than most countries in the world.
