That is on point. The only one thing that Adelabu knows is to threaten Nigerians with potential high tariffs

A man that couldn't conduct LG election all through his eight years in office want someone sacked because there was disruption in electricity supply within one week, not minding the fact that he is very much aware the disruption was due to an explosion on the gas pipeline. Easier said than done

The minister may actually be a fanatical Muslim who sabotaged power supply deliberately in retaliation for trump sending bombs-a-blazing to the sahel region of Nigeria.
which retaliation? Has power been stable since his tenure?
You just Dey yarn rubbish.

The most vexatious aspect is that the Minister of Darkness, Adelabu-bu didn't even deem it fit to explain to Nigerians what's amiss.

He continues to carry on as though nothing happened.

What a misfit of a Minister!

Tinubu must show him the door!

Re: Obi Calls For Resignation Of Minister Of Power For Starving Nigerians Of Power by nairalanda1(m): 5:08pm On Dec 27, 2025
LOL...we can remove the minister of power, we can even replace the minister of power with Trump or Putin, and the power supply would still be bad because MOST nigerians do not pay a cost reflective tarrif.

I keep saying this, when GSM came to Nigeria, there was no GSM backbone in the country, talkless of internet. All we had was the nitel landline system which was wack already. But because Obasanjo said that GSM companies should be allowed to charge cost reflective tarrifs, and only because of that, many GSM companies made the profit that enabled them to do good service, enjoy home internet and so forth,(Of course, the fact that you cannot use a phone unless you pay some money into it, and even if you want to only recieve calls, the line would be disconnected eventually if NO PAYMENT IS MADE).

Meanwhile power companies came around in 2013. GEJ as many people say was a kind and listening man. But to run government, you also have to be realistic. GEJ finished the privatisation of power, but also brought in price controls, and subsidy. BY 2019, a KwH Of power cost N30 Less than what it took to produce it. NOwadays for most people it costs about N100 Less than what it takes to produce it...unless you are Band A...which are 20% of consumers.

Additionally, all the bad habits we did with NEPA...we brought with disco. Bypassing meter...60% Of people bypass their meters (That is for those who shout that if we meter everyone, they will pay without ceasing! grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin grin). Refusing to pay, or underpaying...and even those who pay, most pay the subsidised price, and meanwhile government is strugging to pay the subsidy, because the cost of production is rising, because gas prices are not STATIC.

And what do you expect is the result...

A POWER SECTOR THAT DOES NOT AND CANNOT MAKE ENOUGH OF A PROFIT TO PAY FOR IMPROVEMENTS

Yet. tell people on nairaland this truth...they will call you APC supporter, data boy, Agbero, etc. (Apparently believing a business should make a profit is tantamount to supporting APC...no wonder many businesspeople support APC..Lol..). Or they will call you a liar. Like someone who brought newspaer report saying a disco was punished for overcharging consumers...WHAT THE EFF DO YOU EXPECT? When most consumers ARE NOT PAYING WHAT WOULD BE SUFFICENT TO MAKE A PROFIT....THINGS LIKE RIPPING OFF CONSUMERS WHO DO PAY TO AT LEAST BREAK EVEN HAPPEN.

Yes, your refusal to pay cost reflective tarrifs...is why discos are ripping off consumers. Your government's refusal...yes, TInubu's refusal to enforce cost reflective tarrifs for all, is why discos are ripping off consumers. And the fact discos cannot make a profit is why most of you STILL HAVE TO BUY YOUR OWN POLES AND TRANSFORMER, AND WIRES!

Truth is not accepted in this country, that's why we have bandits disturbing us, and UGM tormenting us, and kidnappers in the forest.

Renowned human rights activist and Convener of the Recover Nigeria Project, Comrade Osita Obi, has called for the immediate resignation of the Minister of Power, Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, over what he described as the minister’s failure to guarantee stable electricity supply to Nigerians even during the Christmas season.

In a reaction issued on Friday, Obi condemned the recurring power outages experienced across the country at a time traditionally associated with increased energy demand, family gatherings and boom in economic activities. He described the situation as unacceptable and symptomatic of deeper leadership and capacity challenges within the power sector.

According to Obi, Nigerians were “given darkness instead of light during this festive period,” arguing that the inability of the Power Ministry to ensure improved electricity supply during Yuletide celebrations reflects a lack of preparedness and vision. He insisted that the current state of affairs has further compounded the hardship already being faced by households and small businesses.

The activist maintained that in a functional and accountable system, the Minister should not wait for public pressure before stepping down from the position. He said the Power Minister ought to “resign and tender an unreserved apology to Nigerians,” stressing that leadership demands responsibility, especially when outcomes fall far below public expectations.

Obi further questioned and criticized Adelabu’s suitability for the role, asserting that the Minister lacks the capacity required to head such a critical sector of the economy. Describing the appointment as a mismatch, he said the Minister is “a square peg in a round hole,” and argued that the Power sector requires visionary leadership capable of addressing Nigeria’s long-standing electricity challenges.

He noted that electricity supply is central to economic productivity, national development and quality of life, adding that persistent outages, particularly during festive periods, undermine public confidence in government and worsen social frustration.

“In a civilised clime, he should not wait for a call for his resignation before throwing in the towel. The man has no vision and capacity to lead a ministry like power ministry. He is a square peg in a round hole,” Obi concluded.
They know what they are doing. It is a deliberately act to frustrate Christmas celebration. A woman told me that they did not pay them before 25th which was the normal routine to enable the federal Christian workers have money for the festivities. I don't know who is advising those people or they thought Nigerians are that poor. Your light or no light makes no different. Many houses have solar, those who don't have have gen, at least I pass my neighbour.

You forcefully moved people into Band A without their consent, yet despite the outrageous amount they now pay for electricity units, you cannot keep your own side of the agreement.

Band A was sold to Nigerians on the promise of at least 20 hours of electricity daily. Today, many of those customers are lucky to get even half of that.

If you collect premium charges based on a clear promise and then fail to deliver the agreed service, what do you call that if not a scam?

Adelabu and everyone involved in this policy need to be removed from office and face prosecution. You can’t punish people with inflated bills, and still expect them to keep quiet while service delivery keeps getting worse.
This is what i have been saying but no one give attention this is outright scam by FG

We like to joke too much in our country.

Did Tinubu not lead Yorubas to reelect his expired Buhari in 2019 despite failing to give us 24 hours power supply?

What works have you done since 2019 to make sure that enough Nigerians don’t reelect Tinubu for failing to give us 24 hours power supply huh
