If truly the FG will be sincere to allow the Armed Forces to do their work, there'll be no need to the creation of these multiple security outfits. If this is not properly checked, in the future, these may snowball into another security challenge. Enough said, I don't think even Gen Abacha would have allowed this security challenges to linger on for this long. I believe the FG knows what to do with the Armed Forces and should so do, instead of this daily security outfits creation. Only this Month, we have forest guard, Kano State outfit, Enugu State, etc. How many are we still waiting to get created? Let's give Gen Musa a timeframe to work. I believe he'll do a good job. He was part of the system and knows what's needed to achieve results. |

We need forest guard. Armed forces can not do it alone |

Biodun556:Who told you that? If not politics, then create farmers guards, street guards, roads guards, church guards, mosques guards, schools guards, stadium guards, etc. |

The Forest Guard scheme is just a backdoor to legitimize the presence of Fulani kidnappers in southern Nigeria forests and establish by extension the 'Ruga' template for absolute Fula domination of Nigeria |

These endless FG's security outfits attract people bent on stealing from, or extorting innocent citizens, not protection of any sort. Most of them will even end up as terrorists or informants for terrorists. Expecting them, armed with hunter guns, to defeat or aid in fighting terrorism the military itself struggles against is like expecting a tortoise to outrun a horse. |

The right thing is to allow community policing including state and local governments |

Abacha ke? Which Abacha? The rate at which we have manufactured poverty there is nothing 10 Abachas will do. No amount of bullets will defeat insecurity that is driven by out-of-school children, low rate of girl-child education and mass poverty. |

Forest guard is like a federally managed state police structure. |

azpekuliar:Insecurity isnt linked to poverty. If there was poverty, why are the governors wasting money on hajj, ramadan, moaques, imams, and religious giveaways? USA won't dash you shi-shi but bullets n bombs. |

The Armed forces have been compromised. See the countless times they were ambushed and our brace soldiers killed. We need a new and fresh blood into the security community. |

ogaemma:The last paragraph. Let's give Gen Musa a chance |

todaynewsreview:The forest guard is not a new paramilitary. Their job is specifically to work in the forest. The military is overstretch and needs support. The forest guard is created and trained specifically to operate in the forest |

To end insecurity just need a simple and decisive order for the security forces to do their job. All these flashy agencies are not necessary. We play unproductive politics and religion which affects one's reasoning. |

todaynewsreview:General Musa still need to work with fresh hands. The old hands there are bunch of sabotage. Even Musa is very suspicious of the circumstances of how Brigadier General Uba was killed. Fresh blood must be injected into the system. |

Biodun556:Precisely. Even nations without significant security issues have specialized forest rangers for a reason. We cannot afford to deploy our armed forces for forest sweeping duty. We need expertly trained forest guards for that. Long overdue. |
| Re: Let The Armed Forces Do Their Work, Not Forest Guard by Ikaeniyan0: 11:37am On Dec 28, 2025 |
todaynewsreview:Then there should be no policemen too, since the military can also do the job the police are doing. Even the US that have the most powerful military in the world have forest rangers. |

todaynewsreview:He spoke correctly. You are the one, with this thread, trying to be contrarian for the sake of it alone. Forest guards are needed period. Nigeria's large forest areas are the hideout and homes of terrorists, bandits and kidnappers. Most kidnapped Nigerians are taken it not the forest and held their till they are released or killed. It is time to secure our forest and flush the terrorists, bandits and kidnappers out of them with specially trained forest guards. The Army and NPF will find it easier to neutralise terrorists, bandits and Kidnappers when them can no longer hide in our forests. |

Ikaeniyan0:Don't mind the OP. One thing about Nigerians is that they are quarrelsome by nature. Many just like to oppose everything , to include what is factually logical, just for the sake of being argumentative. How can anyone logical have an issue with creation of forest guard corp when it is a fact terrorists, kidnappers and bandits now live, hide in and operate in forests? We all know the reality of how buses are ambushed on our expressway only for kidnapped passengers to then be spirited deep into the forest while their families then receive ransom demand. Most kidnapped Nigerians who regain freedom tell horror stories of being in thick forests indicating we need a specialised force to manage and secure our forests. Is that a situation any sane and logical person would want our army dragged into while being saddled with defending the territorial integrity of Nigeria? |

The armed forces of the so-called Nigeria have been totally compromised. |
| Re: Let The Armed Forces Do Their Work, Not Forest Guard by todaynewsreview(op): 12:36pm On Dec 28, 2025 |
WizardOfNG:You're the one myopic here bro. What can the Armed Forces not do if the will power is there? Gen. Musa should be encouraged to work with free hand to eradicate these terrorists. Nigeria has been polarized and no true programme aside the Armed Forces will be accepted all. We now view every step with a pinch of salt. Have you forgotten the Kwara incidence where some arrested terrorists claimed guards? |
