One of the biggest issues is unclear documents. Some people upload ID cards that are dark, blurry, chopped off, or taken at strange angles, and then wonder why approval is taking time. If the Commissioner can’t clearly see your name, photo, or details, they can’t verify anything. The same goes for signatures, faint signatures, shaky signatures, signatures that look like they were captured on a moving bus; those ones will definitely get queried. Even passport photographs matter. If the picture is too dark or the face isn't clear, expect delays.

Another thing that causes a lot of unnecessary waiting is not attaching supporting documents where needed. Some affidavits require you to back up what you’re saying. For example, if you’re applying for an affidavit to authorise someone to do a SIM replacement for you, the Commissioner may ask to see the proxy’s ID card. If you don’t attach it, your application will be queried. And it’s not just SIM-related affidavits; many types of affidavits require proof, especially when you’re declaring a correction, a loss, or giving authorisation.

Now, here’s one thing people need to understand: while the Commissioner can make small changes for you, they won’t sit down and rewrite your whole application. They handle a very large volume of requests every day, so if there’s a mistake, they’ll simply query it and wait for you to fix it yourself. That’s why it’s always better to get everything right before you hit submit.

Timing also plays a role. Even though the e-Affidavit portal is open 24/7, approvals are not. During weekends, late hours, and holidays, the number of staff available to review applications is low. Sometimes, none at all. So if you apply during those times, just know it might take longer. It’s not that your application has been abandoned; there’s just no one available to approve it at that moment.
