Nigerians don't have business paying more than 30k for a two- way ticket within Nigeria,that is how it suppose be.
Just imagine me wen Lagos , suppose go watch match for Maiduguri and back to Lagos that same day on flight or person when dey Calabar suppose go church service on a Sunday morning in Sokoto, then fly to Abuja for lunch and come back home to Calabar in the evening all in the same day, all these air fare less than 30k in this our Nigeria.

His analysis makes no sense! He did not mention the earnings/purchasing power of Nigerians. That factor alone makes air fares in Nigeria one of the most expensive globally. The cost of air fare is huge percentage of the average salary in Nigeria.

I didnt mention luxury in my submission, Air flight is something anyone in uk or US can afford if they really want to fly

Lets put luxury, In Nigeria of today some a chicken meal is luxury in most homes, even essentials such as balance diet are luxury in Nigeria thats our terrible the state of the country is, even sardine, corn beef naa luxury

Someone with minimum wage in Uk or Us can afford basic needs cos of the govt subsidy and prioritize the welfare of the people, not just Tax Tax Taxing the people to loot

You dont compare prices between different countries without looking at relative earnings i.e affordability. Its like comparing the headline cost of Coke between two countries to determine where its 'cheaper'

Cost of flights within the UK and even between countries in Europe can easily be between £30- 200. The UK minimum wage is above £12 per hour. That means the lowest earner should be able to afford an air ticket to Europe after a days job (even after removing taxes). That's affordable.


Now compare that to Nigeria with a minimum wage of 70k and average flight cost of about 120- 200k per month. The minimum wage earner would need to work for upto 2 months to be able to purchase a flight ticket - that is without spending a kobo from their pay which is obviously not affordable. Whats worse is that many people earn below minimum wage in Nigeria which is hardly the case in the UK.

Yes, certain airline inputs are priced internationally but people like Onyema shouldn't gaslight Nigerians to accept basic things being unaffordable.

This is true. Imagine paying 300usd on a one way flight in the US for a short istance trip. Though airfares depend on distance and season at times. From Baltimore in Mayland, a spirit airlines once charged 500usd to Los Angeles, which is almost same diatance as Lagos to the UK or south africa route.

This Onyema guy has never flown on Southwest Airlines on local or domestic flights. In Nigeria, they even charge you other fees (fuel etc) and the flights are uneliable which may not be his doing. I have flown on a direct flight from Abuja to Ibadan only for the plane to stop at Ilorin to pick up more passengers.

They tell you we have the cheapest this or that but don't tell you it's because our currency has no value compared to others.

If you want to lie sef lie with facts. There is a flight of over 2hrs from Poland to UK which costs less than 75k naira. So what are you telling us!

Americans are using below 600 dollars, which means an average/ poor American can easily fly to another country or state because it's a 2weeks wages using minimum wage of 5$ per hour

What's the distance and flight hours of the flights you're quoting?
There's no place within Nigeria that exceeds one hour, even from Lagos to maiduguri.

Many flights within Europe and Asia is not even up to $100, why should Lagos to Enugu that's not more than 30 minutes should cost 500k?
