Former Labour Party presidential candidate and ex-governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, has officially confirmed that he will contest the 2027 presidential election.

Obi made the declaration on Sunday night while speaking during an X Spaces conversation, where he addressed questions about his political future and leadership ambitions. The former governor made it clear that he is not interested in serving as a running mate to any candidate, insisting that his political journey and experience are geared toward the nation’s highest office.

According to Obi, he has accumulated significant leadership experience over the years and does not intend to step down from a presidential ambition to become a vice-president.

His confirmation has elicited discussions within Nigeria’s political space, particularly among supporters of the Labour Party and youth-driven political movements that backed his 2023 presidential run. The 2027 general election is expected to draw intense competition as political actors begin early positioning ahead of the polls.

He said, I am not travelling round the world to learn governance to be Vice president. I know how to turn Nigeria around. I built my business from scratch and have more experience than any candidate, including the sitting President. Peter Obi will be on the ballot in 2027. I need your support. I need your prayers.

Fact is he can't defeat APC at the moment. Buhari tried to make the election free to an extent, his only fault was not changing the inec chairman. Obi can't win because this president won't conduct a fair election

The only option left for obi is to pitch his tent with the ADC

Obi never explicitly said that. Pay no mind to the Agbado-affiliated media. He simply clarified that he's in the coalition to view for the ticket.
