JUST IN: Two people who died from Joshua's accident are foreign nationals, says Ogun

The Ogun State Government has expressed profound condolences to the families, friends, and associates of the victims of a tragic road accident involving world heavyweight boxing champion Anthony Joshua, who narrowly escaped death on Monday.

The fatal accident occurred along the busy Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, within the Makun axis of Ogun State, and sadly claimed the lives of two persons. Anthony Joshua and three other individuals were reportedly travelling from Lagos to Sagamu at the time of the incident.

Preliminary reports indicate that two male foreign nationals died on the spot. Their remains have since been deposited at the Livewell Morgue in Sagamu. Anthony Joshua and the driver of the vehicle were promptly rescued by security personnel attached to his convoy and taken to a hospital, where they are currently receiving medical attention.

The sport utility vehicle conveying the occupants was said to have rammed into a stationary truck along the expressway. While the severely damaged vehicle has been evacuated to the Sagamu Motor Traffic Division (MTD) office, efforts are ongoing to tow the truck involved to the same location to facilitate a comprehensive investigation.

The Ogun State Government describes the incident as deeply unfortunate and painful, particularly with the loss of precious lives, while others sustained varying degrees of injuries and are receiving medical care.

Motorists are therefore urged to exercise utmost caution and adhere strictly to traffic regulations, especially during the festive season when vehicular movement is typically heavy. Road safety officers and other security agencies are also enjoined to intensify surveillance and enforcement efforts across the State to ensure the safety of lives and property.

Our hearts go out to the bereaved families who lost their loved ones in this tragic incident, which the State considers a devastating loss. As we mourn collectively, we pray for the repose of the souls of the departed and for the speedy recovery of the injured. May Almighty God grant the families left behind the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

This is really sad. Anthony Joshua loves Nigeria even when he has no strong reasons to do so. Losing his close friends like this could make him stay from Nigeria. So, so sad.

The chartered helicopter could have taken the champ from his hotel in Lekki, Lagos, directly to Ibadan in less than 15 minutes flight time.

For all his brilliance, technique and power as a world-class boxer, Anthony Joshua's instinct for self-preservation was not attuned enough to prevent him from traveling aboard a flashy new SUV along one of the most kidnapper-infested highways on this green planet.

A man worth tens of millions of dollars would have been the hostage catch of a lifetime for a terrorist Fulani kidnapping bandit gang of the sort that set up frequent blockades on that same Ibadan Expressway with regularity, until just a few months ago when security was beefed up in the area.

What rubbish did you just write? You actually don't know what you are saying. He was not going to Ibadan, he was going to Sagamu, Ogun State. If I may ask is your brain infested with maggots ? How can you describe Lagos Ibadan expressway as " most kidnapper-infested highways" . Do you live in alternate universe? When last did you hear of kidnapping on this highway?
Re: Sina Ghami & Latif "Latz" Ayodele Died In Anthony Joshua's Accident by TOPCRUISE(m):
Ogun state roads are getting frightening. Same condition no improvement.
The emergency response were no where to be found. No ambulance, no paramedics and injured Anthony Joshua was made to sit in police van. At the end only speeches were made by the government to offer condolences after their cronies are done embezzling funds meant to rectify potholes.
Meanwhile Politicians and those who benefited in the shoddy road construction have abandoned the road and opted to take flights for their safety

How should they have transported the SUVs?
Easier to kill 2birds with one stone.

Plus they probably planned on enjoying the trip. It's holiday season.
AJ just had a packed year.

They have a lot to talk about especially showcasing to his European brethren the view of South west as they journey along.

Reckless driving and accidents can not be divorced.

Who remember this Public Service Announcement songs that goes like this. I need someone to finish it:

"The highway is not a race track.

Remember those people ........"

It was a very popular radio jingle back in the day advising people to drive carefully

Are you for real? How often do you ply lagos Ibadan expressway? Please I beg of you to always write with a good conscience. You drifted from an accident and concentrated on kidnapping and terrorist. Omo, you weak me. This is a road I play five days per week for God's sake.
