the vehicle were promptly rescued by security personnel attached to his convoy and taken to a hospital, where they are currently receiving medical attention. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
....Anthony Joshua and the driver of the vehicle were promptly rescued....... Mischievous guy! They got to the hospital eventually..... definitely not promptly.

On being foreign nationals .... if from the US.... driving as per normal ..left hand drive ... automatically stays in the left lane. If from the UK ....can make a whole lot of difference driving a left hand drive car.... from gear shifting... signaling...staying in the correct lane...it can be a whole lot .

Exactly my thoughts.......it's reckless driving and nothing more.....we all agree that road is very dangerous especially the Lagos to ogere end but the way this protocol guys drive recklessly endangering themselves and other road users......they always think they are invisible to death......ogun state govt needs to do something about indiscriminate parking and wilfull obstruction on that road,so much road indiscipline in that axis encouraged by the very govt officials who should be ensuring proper traffic rules......this is one of the results of dapo's maladministration
I doubt Dapo has any jurisfiction over that road as it is a federal road.

It should be the duty of the FRSC to put things in order.

Tinubu, this is exactly why Yahya Bello, Abubakar Malami, and Farouk Ahmed must be prosecuted, publicly, relentlessly, and without backroom deals.

The money these three men siphoned from Nigeria could have built a national emergency response system. Not slogans. Not committees. Real ambulances on every major highway Nigerians travel every single day. Trained paramedics. Dispatch centers. A system where accidents don’t automatically become death sentences.

Anthony Joshua could have died.
His friends were declared “dead” on the roadside, not by doctors, not by paramedics, but by bystanders with no medical training. Those men could have been in deep comas. In functional countries, nobody is pronounced dead on asphalt by guesswork.

And yet you, Tinubu, and Akpabio keep flying abroad for healthcare, enjoying systems built by other people’s taxes, while Nigerians bleed out on highways at home. That is not governance; that is abandonment.

Healthcare and emergency response in Nigeria are no longer “policy issues.” They are national emergencies. Every stolen naira has a body count attached to it. Every protected thief is another mass grave waiting to happen.

Prosecute them, not for politics, not for optics, but because Nigerians are dying in silence while the powerful shop for hospitals overseas.

History will not be kind to leaders who chose comfort over lives.

I wonder why people are blaming the state of Nigerian roads on the mishap. The mishap was obviously self inflicted. Driving recklessly at unimaginable speeds to such an extent that you can't manoeuvre away from a trailer is completely reckless. Even in developed countries the risk of such accidents from reckless driving is high. The case of Diogo jota and Paul Walker comes to mind. Please people should be mindful not to get sentimental over this because he's a superstar driving in Nigeria. I'm not saying Nigerian roads are the best but let's at least try to be objective in assessing stuffs like this. If this had happened to an ordinary Nigerian, you guys would have reversed the accusations by accusing that Nigerian driver of reckless driving.
Is having stationary trucks on the highway normal?

he said the bitter truth, our highways are death traps, if you ain't robbed by bandits you get killed by accident from reckless truck drivers that park indiscriminately along our highways, coupled with terrible road design. AJ should have just chattered a chopper instead he's a high profile individual so he should have been more careful with his life.
How many high profile individuals do you know that charter chopper to fly from Lagos to Sagamu? You think say helicopter can land just anywhere? Some of una go just open mouth dey talk wetin una no know. Who do Naija people this thing na huh

How? You Nigerian guys and low self esteem ehn are like 5 and 6! If a Nigerian went to their country and drove recklessly, over speeding etc, and then dies in that self inflicted accident, would people say it's a bad pr for that country? No? They'd rather start insulting not just the Nigerian guy who died but they'd lump all Nigerians as reckless drivers. They'd rather inflict the bad pr on the Nigerian driver who came to their country and drove recklessly and died, citing that all Nigerians are known to be law breakers. Please let us accord our country some self respect. Nigerian roads might not be the best in the world but the cause of this tragedy was obviously reckless driving!
You are the one who has low self esteem.

I stated a matter of serious concern, if you have issues with it then that's your problem! angry

This is nothing but absolute nonsense, cheap politicking mixed with emotional jagons.

Nigerians (all 240million of us) are responsible for the state of things in Nigeria, not just public officials and political office holders. All of us!!!

Our nonchalant, irresponsible, selfish, unpatriotic behaviour and mentality adds up to inflict pain on our society. Look at the shitshow at the accident site.

We are quick to put the blame on government and the head of state (president) for almost EVERYTHING that goes wrong in our lives and society. We have no self accountability.

Nigerians are one of the most ungovernable people on this planet - but we want to put the blames on "our leaders". Pay TAX some are protesting but they want public services that are good as those obtainable in America and United Kingdom. Ridiculous!!!

Poor people have children recklessly all over the place and those children grow up into angry, frustrated, poverty stricken, government-blaming, unpatriotic, unproductive adults.

Look at the array of Ferrarris, Bentleys and G-wagons on display at Christmas on the impoverished gothic 15th-century looking streets of the
East, with 'no brainer' isolated mansions and castles littering impoverished villages. Yet collectively (230m people) we are very poor and can only generate a paltry $62B dollars annually. Instead of building our country together we engage in 'survival of the fittest' animal kingdom lifestyle.

As for me, I blame the totality of the Nigerian people for our problems. I have grown beyond singling out a politician and heaping all our problems on their heads.

The chartered helicopter could have taken the champ from his hotel in Lekki, Lagos, directly to Ibadan in less than 15 minutes flight time.

For all his brilliance, technique and power as a world-class boxer, Anthony Joshua's instinct for self-preservation was not attuned enough to prevent him from traveling aboard a flashy new SUV along one of the most kidnapper-infested highways on this green planet.

A man worth tens of millions of dollars would have been the hostage catch of a lifetime for a terrorist Fulani kidnapping bandit gang of the sort that set up frequent blockades on that same Ibadan Expressway with regularity. until just a few months ago when security was beefed up in the area.

Road safety corpse have long abandoned what supposed to be their main responsibility but now extorting money from motorists. They are now always at bad spots/potholes where vehicles can not gain momentum to enable them extort money rather than making efforts to remove such stationary trucks from the highways and even checking overspending vehicles as they used to do in the 80s when it established
