Some say the president “took the bait” when he was forced to accept help from the US to confront terrorists. Not because accepting help is wrong, but because when you're forced to accept foreign intervention because your house is not in order, there are consequences.

The US is simply not going to walk away after these airstrikes, they're going to shift focus to preventing further deterioration. That means they will pay attention on potential triggers that could reignite violence and insecurity.

One of the biggest triggers for potential violence and heightened insecurity is the 2027 election.

This does not mean the US will choose Nigeria’s leaders or manipulate the polls. It means they'll monitor the process closely to ensure the implementation doesn't risk plunging the country back into deeper instability.

Many Nigerians already fear that the 2027 election will be marred by voter intimidation, suppression, and organized violence. Historically, these tools have played a role in maintaining political control. Whether you agree with that assessment or not, the perception itself is powerful — and perceptions shape pressure.

Based on this public perception, international scrutiny will be intense around these areas. The government will be under pressure to demonstrate that it's not complicit or tolerant to coordinated violence and intimidation, and this will force compliance.

The government's biggest opposition currently is itself, based on extreme economic hardship, widespread insecurity and public dissatisfaction, which it either created, failed to address, or made worse. Governments facing this level of dissatisfaction often rely on fear and force to control institutions and the streets. But those measures become far more difficult under close international watch and pressure.

If these conditions hold, then the president’s path to re-election effectively collapses.

The presidency is a job ,you apply for based on competence, while on the job, there are KPI that is used to measure performance to know if the holder is performing and deserving of another term, unfortunately Tinubu did not measure up on all the criteria, so he is retiring to bourdilon in 2029,enough of playing kite with people 's life
