Under GEJ, power supply was awful.

Below is the grid collapses from 2010- 24. They happened more frequently under GEJ.

Does not make biahri and tinubu better o.
I refuse to believe these Data, I for one I experience the stable power supply, asin
I can predict when the light will come, how long it will stay,

And it's steadily too, towards the end of GEJ tenure, majority of satellite and okoko Area were experiencing stable 24 hours light

So how did these Data came about

No wonder politicans like tinubu are ruling you when you refuse to believe in facts .

Facts don't respect your feelings.

Tinubu na bad leader. Fact. Also, power supply has always been bad, fact and grid collapses have been worse. Fact.

After seeing these shocking figures and did not see anything wrong with the way APC is treating Nigerians like rags, then you are a devil. Thanks
The important things those countries don't do is that they do not have a large level of power theft and stealing. Like here in Nigeria, 60% of consumers bypass their meters

Also only 20% of consumers in Nigeria pay 209-225 naira. Most consumers pay way lower than 160 naira. And even the 20%, some of them don't even pay at all

Finally Ghana and ivory coast deregulated ages ago, and are now reaping the fruits of deregulation. More investment, more profit, reduced prices . Ivory coast is paying the price of deregulating power in 1993

And USA, UK, china, etc have industries meaning they can manufacture what they need to build and upgrade power supply infrastructure without having to import. They can also earm massive income from massive taxation and massive export of industrial goods a d services. Nigeria under apc can't which is why apc is useless

Apc is useless. But the same issues with our power supply have existed since independence

Ghana by the way pays 228 naira per kwh

. Ivory coast pays 208 for home , 357 for Business.

Kenya pays 333 naira per kwh

South Africa 414 naira per kwh

UK pays 400 naira per kwh

Germany pays 600-700 naira per kwh

China pays 123 naira per kwh.

nairalanda1:
Yes because most Nigerians don't pay band a tarrifs. That means that anu profit made from band a users is cancelled out by losses sustained from the majority on the other bands

Imagine owning a provisions shop where only 20 percent of your customers pay full price for what they buy, the rest pay half price and a quarter take your goods without paying. Your shop won't make a profit to run well/keep it a going concern.

Same thing happens in our power sector. Profits are so low that it is a struggle to even supply band a people .

So for telling you the truth about power supply in Nigeria. A truth I learned under GEJ in 2013 when I was trying to understand why he was privatosong power means I am an apc supporter?

Lol. I have known all of this before apc existed.

Go and rest Mr man. Keep on supporting apc and pdp as if they care about you.

As for me, fact na fact.

nairalanda1:
Well they all pay, no one bypasses their meters or steals power and china is an industrialized nation that earns massive income , and then taxation is premium

Nigeria is a resource dependent nation with limited exporting industry, only ten million out of 230 million pay tax, 60% of metered consumers bypass their meters and most consumers refuse to pay, underpay or are on massively subsidized tarrifs which the government due to low revenues and corruption struggles to make up. All that adds to massive losses which means that power supply can't be fixed that easily

China is even moving towards more cost reflectiveness by the way re tarrifs.

Yeah , not the same, sonny
Convoluted logic..
China has been subsidising power, telecommunications , transportation and agriculture right from her days as a "third world economy"! Do your checks. Trying to make it look like cheaper power costs in China is are products of the country's rapid economic growth is jejune. The truth of the matter is that cheaper power costs INSTIGATED rapid industrialisation in China not the other way round..
You don't put the cart before the horse..

Infact, as we speak, the costs of electricity supply, housing and even basic minimum wage in China have all appreciated, thst is when compared to what they used to be in say the early 2000s. China managed her economy so well that a courageous effort was made across board by the Communidt party to keep sundry costs at the barest minimum, until rapid industrialisation was achieved..., and it worked..

All of you APCd textbook-ultra capitalists dìñĝ-bàsťz will always regurgitate all sorts putrid western theoretical nonsenses to add to the burdens of the long suffering masses of this country... Nigeria has become your laboratory where you test all your IMF/World Bank impractical directives. Turning Nigerians into your laboratory rats in the process. Otherwise, how on earth do you think that you can competitively produce quality goods and services with a running cost almost double that of a more sophisticated manufacturing power house like China 🇨🇳huh

Make it make sense...

Re: National Grid Collapses, Restoration In Progress by nairalanda1(m): 9:26pm On Dec 29, 2025
he spits truth. The truth makes me angry. I must call him wrong in return. I don’t care why
That's the summary of the responses I have gotten here.

The thing is , apc is responsible for the power supply problem too

1. They don't charge cost reflective tarrifs and maintain subsidies which at the end prevent investment in the power sector and cause the sector to lose millions in potential profits

That's why we end up buying our pole, wires and transformers.

Meanwhile GSM charges cost reflective tarrifs. Everyone pays. Now when was the last time you bought antenna and generator and diesel for the gsm generators?

2. They also themselves do not pay their electricity bills. When aso rock, the ministries and top government officials under apc are not paying for the power they use, is that a good example?

3. They are not enforcing the laws around power theft at all. Is that a serious government?

4. They run a dutch diseased economy. Not an industrial producer economy..scanty money for budget results.

And the government that makes the above foolish decisions is the government some people here think I support. Because they can't accept the truth that underpaying for power is why we don't have light at all.

One thing I have noticed about Nigerians is they don't like the truth. They prefer lies. They only prefer the truth if it gets them into power.

Also a lot of people think there is only one way you can criticize government. Any other way means you support government.

Me , all I am saying here, I learned from reading and reading since 2013. It was in 2013 I saw the light. Since then, I have been passing on the truth.

But this is the Internet where to win an argument means one gets abusive. That's why I have taken to blocking people, because it is no use fighting with a skunk. And there are many of them skunks on this sites.

Good evening y'all are free to call me apc supporter. As for me, if it was obi in charge , I know I will say the same thing I am saying now, and the people calling me agbero here will praise me while the apc supporters will call me obidient . Because Nigerians hate truth.

Power subsides were only removed for band a people, who form less than 20% of consumers

Everyone else is on subsidized power

Ultimately this means the power sector can't make a profit to pay for improvements, even to pay for gas for the power plants

Power theft by consumers doesn't help much either
So, band B also on subsidised power?

They can't pay power sector, but they can steal? Right?
Re: National Grid Collapses, Restoration In Progress by BondRiv: 9:32pm On Dec 29, 2025
The Minister of Power has to go.

obonujoker:

Right. But stealing or no, the money needed for power is far more than what they steal.

And even if stealing stopped it won't change the situation on ground.

They had leaders who stole in Ghana and ivory coast, as well as south Africa, yet they have better power than we do because their power supply is deregulated.

By the way , thanks for calling me a supporter of corruption. You know one can condemm corruption and also admit our power sector has a liquidity problem irrespective of corruption. And also, I don't recall insulting you either.

Good evening.
