same Lagos Ibadan express road SisterAnn plied, and other thousands of Easterners dey ply daily for greener pasture in the SW🤕.

what do you guys gain from lying so much and making up stuffs?........
doing it here and other Nigerian platforms is crazy but going to foreign pages to lie is just absolutely ridiculous 😬
Someone expressed his personal view and you want to commit suicide!
Yet, instead of you to challenge him with empirical facts, you resorted to stereotyping.
They come for greener pastures in your County, yet you chose to dwell in hunger and poverty.

Ogun state roads are getting frightening. Same condition no improvement.
The emergency response were no where to be found. No ambulance, no paramedics and injured Anthony Joshua was made to sit in police van. At the end only speeches were made by the government to offer condolences after their cronies are done embezzling funds meant to rectify potholes.
Meanwhile Politicians and those who benefited in the shoddy road construction have abandoned the road and opted to take flights for their safety
The problem wasn't the road but high speed.

What happened to the road in Diogo jota accident

Your assumption is based on the fact that we are all careful drivers which is not the case. In developed nations, extra steps are taken to ensure the safety of everyone (including the reckless drivers). Why on earth will a stationary vehicle, and a truck for that matter, be on the highway for more than an hour?
+
Come on. So are you saying in a developed country a truck cannot be stuck there for five minutes with the same result?

And for heavens sake, the bold just shows you assume no accidents happen in developed countries!

It's easier to lay all the blame on the driver but the truth remains that this incident could have been avoided, notwithstanding the "recklessness" (yet to be proven) of the driver.
+
Nonsense. No insult intended. Reckless driving leads to accidents everywhere.

As an experienced driver of over 30 years, you must agree with me that one does not drive for himself alone but for others as well. One should anticipate and avert issues while driving and your designated "trained" road safety officers should have anticipated the same in this case.
+
Are you kidding me? Its the person driving who has to drive safely for others as well. Neither do Road safety officers appear at every one centimeter anywhere in the world.

I have sped and overtaken vehicles a good number of times on the highway, that stationary vehicle has no business being there on that road. That vehicle caused the accident and the government is complicit as well.
+
I can only take this as a joke. Make sure in future you look ahead before overtaking and please DO NOT overspeed.

Two lives now gone, condolences rendered by the president, said truck still firmly in place and you tell me this country is normal
+
I never said the country is normal, but blaming the country for the clear reckless driving of an individual is a problem.

Well FRSC version are always debatable. If it were a politician they will keep quiet and not talk that. But if it were ordinary citizens even if the cause were clear bad portions on the road they will say driver was over speeding

Hmmmm. Tell you what, let's agree to disagree. You go on thinking the driver led to the foreign national's demise while I stick to my convictions that this nation failed Anthony.

Let's not go into all that. Let's just hope that Anthony is at least safe

Just realising that I am speaking with another nairalander. Kindly ignore my post.
I will not ignore your post because you did not ignore mine. You need common sense and not CCTV cameras to see how overspeeding contributed to that accident. As the roads are bad, reckless driving is a catalyst to fatal accidents.

Regrettably the high speed he was used to on UK road and nothing happened was the same high speed he demonstrated on Nigerian roads and the worst happened.
Nigerian roads is still part of the blame even though our contractors constructed an expressway not meant for high speed

For the record, I have been in an accident (I was driving) on a highway in Lagos, where my car somersaulted and ended up on the other side of the road. I came out unscathed but I learnt my lesson. Two friends were with me. No injuries to anyone. We sat down in shock by the kerb for an hour just pondering what happened.
Re: Sina Ghami & Latif "Latz" Ayodele Died In Anthony Joshua's Accident by wolebest: 9:26am On Dec 30, 2025
The two foreigners that died were seated in the front seats of the SUV and one of them was definitely behind the wheels.

I hope the driver was licenced to drive in Nigeria?

Reckless driving caused this accident....
The truck was clearly parked out of the road...
The condition of the road too was good...

The driver was reckless. Sadly none of the passengers and the escort cautioned him. This syndrome is common with our big men when they move in sophisticated vehicles and accompanied by escorts. They drive on high speed when it is not necessary. We see this everyday and everywhere.

Overspeeding and dangerous overtaking kills.
AJ was extremely lucky...

What I can suggest is that he he applies to FRSC to give him a driver whenever he visits home. Of course he will pay for the service but he knows that he is being driven by a well-trained and safety-conscious driver....

He was extremely lucky. Have we forgotten what recently happened to Diogo Jota and his brother too? How they both perished due to unsafe driving.

I wish AJ quick recovery and RIP to the deceased.
He will be psychologically traumatized for some time to come....

Life is Life!

No reason at all, NONE. While everyone Is looking to "japa", AJ is always in Nigeria. While he could walk away to ant part of the world, he is always coming back home. I love that dude. I was him the best.

So now we are trading accident stories. Well, just recently, a truck rammed into the back of my car. I came out unscathed. Driver apologized and interestingly paid for damages. Still have PTSD from that incident and I understand better that some situations could be averted if both the government and individual play their roles. In my case, there were no stationary trucks so the driver was clearly at fault.

You have no kidnap value my friend. Jakumo was right, AJ should have used and helicopter and pay a driver to bring his flashy SUV. He could have even chartered a private plane for Chrissake.

I doubt Dapo has any jurisfiction over that road as it is a federal road.

It should be the duty of the FRSC to put things in order.
TRACE is the replica of LASTMA in ogun state......LASTMA covers both federal and state roads ensuring proper traffic management, though they are far from being efficient and they are not any better at it but the ogun state TRACE are far worst off and too inefficient.......it's the govs prerogative to ensure ogun state roads are safe and motorable for the citizens.....this is pure dereliction of duty from govt and the gov in particular.

The news came as a shock to me, i saw human brains scattered all over the road beyond recognition ( guessing it was Sina Ghami ), my condolence to their families.

On an important note this accident could've been avoided if only the Ogun State Government built good roads and that particular highway has been bad for a long time, i remember accessing that road some months back and my experience wasn't nice.

My point what's happened has happened and nothing can be done to undo it but a precautionary measure could be taken to avoid future losses.

Jakumo:
The chartered helicopter could have taken the champ from his hotel in Lekki, Lagos, directly to Ibadan in less than 15 minutes flight time.

For all his brilliance, technique and power as a world-class boxer, Anthony Joshua's instinct for self-preservation was not attuned enough to prevent him from traveling aboard a flashy new SUV along one of the most kidnapper-infested highways on this green planet.

A man worth tens of millions of dollars would have been the hostage catch of a lifetime for a terrorist Fulani kidnapping bandit gang of the sort that set up frequent blockades on that same Ibadan Expressway with regularity. until just a few months ago when security was beefed up in the area.
