Members of the Rivers State House of Assembly have returned a N100,000 cash gift from the state governor, Sim Fubara.


The money was transferred to their personal accounts on the instructions of Fubara.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by Hon. Enemi Aabo George, chairman of the House Committee on Information, Petitions and Complaints.


According to the statement: “Today, the 30th day of December 2025, Honourable members of the 10th Rivers State House of Assembly received bank credit alerts of the sum of one hundred thousand naira each.

“The said unsolicited and unapproved amount was transferred on the instructions of the Governor of Rivers State, Sir Sim Fubara, to the personal accounts of members.

“Upon discovery of these unsolicited and unapproved transfers, Honourable members of the House took immediate steps to formally return the said funds to the account of the Rivers State Government.

“As an institution established by law and guided strictly by the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, the Rivers State House of Assembly maintains that all public expenditures must follow due process, including legislative approval.

“The governor, since assuming office in 2025, has consistently drawn from the Consolidated Revenue Account of Rivers State without legislative approval, despite repeated warnings from the House, judgements of the Supreme Court, and in defiance of the Constitution and principles of separation of powers.”


This comes amid renewed hostilities with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

The are simply forming moralists and accountable people because of the feudal war ongoing between Nyesom Wike their real benefactor and Similayi Fubara. They will soon go to the NASS to collect Akpabio prayer emails. Shameless bunch deceiving themselves.

His actions always seem premature and he tends to give a lot of room for recovery and retaliation.

What can 100k do for men like that in today's Nigeria? That's more like an insult. If you want to buy their loyalty, you must find out what Wike gives them and give them more.

Fubara knows nothing about politics. I hope he's at least doing something about developing Rivers State because I can't remember the last time I read state-sponsored development projects in that state.

Focused countries like Qatar and UAE are using their oil money to build futuristic cities while Rivers politicians are using theirs to play mumu politics. Tomorrow, we will say we didn't develop due to neocolonialism.

Fubara don't need all these

Fubara can really fall hand. He is not deft, has no tact and political acumen, has no foresight and zero self respect.
He is just an embarrassment. I can't imagine how a governor can be so weak to keep scoring own goals like this.

The #100000 sent to them was also sent to all civil servants in the as a Christmas bonus.so this wike house of assembly should hide their faces in shame

Fubara never authorized 100k be paid to the lawmakers alone, every civil servant on Rivers state payroll gor the 100k.

Fubara should be appreciated for the gesture to Rivers civil servants

The 100k has nothing to do with politics, that is a xmas bonus paid into the account of every employee paid by Rivers State Government. If they dont want, it is their problem. they should return it .
It is just about 20 of them out of how many employees of the government that got the money, who get time to bribe them. If they have balls they should start the nonsesne impeachment threat and see what will happen to them.

The state government gave all civil servants a ₦100,000 Christmas bonus. Were the Assembly members expecting ₦10,000,000? If Tinubu had not intervened by suspending Sims, by now Wike’s structure would have collapsed.

Shameless asslickers, I'm sure they did that to please ,wike, if i were the governor, I will forget everything, finish this term, contest for next election without bribing or worshiping any one, if you loose, rest , if you win fine.

So, he should pack all the public funds and transfer to them. Are they not receiving salaries and allowances? Politicians are the main problem of Nigeria. Why can't they live within their legitimate earnings?

When legislative and government officials are swimming in millions and billions, fubara is sending 1 hundred k to rivers house of assembly.

they won't share the money with common man in needs of financial assistance to settle hospital/etc bills.

If I were in his position, I wouldn't make any effort to compete in the next gubernatorial election because it's very clear that Mr. Wike, the APC party, and the PDP party would work against him.
