hatchy:Olodo illiterate. It's obvious you have no single knowledge of what the tax law is about. Let us say you are even correct about the 30k data boys. 30k a month for a year will be 360k which is below the 800k threshold for taxation. Illiterate |

I keep telling those emotional people, but they won't listen.... How can assembly satisfy the tax law and be passed in law, you want to stop it? Only the House of Assembly can call it back, and I have never seen the majority of them discussing it, but rather a few aggressive individuals. |

Paying taxes isn't bad at all... But the problem is what will be the benefits eventually. It's not as if nothing is coming into the government coffers, we have seen lesser than we're paying presently. What are the benefits of the susidy removal so far? Nothing... Absolutely nothing. Do you know how much the government saved from subsidy removal on daily basis? Where is the money? The 50 naira charge in every transfer more than 10k for both payer and beneficiary, have you even tried to calculate it. Many times I am charged more than 300 per day and yet they charge everyone sending and receiving funds.... Since it began, can they give account of how much they make per day and where the money goes into? Because all we read is debt upon debt as if there is nothing coming in at all... See, let's not deceive ourselves. The tax is for 2027 elections. It's to buy votes because that's the only strategy for Tinubu to win. This time he won't be sharing 10k or 20k, because people are mad at him except the apc party members... he will share more and people will vote. Tinubu is too desperate not to win 2027. That is what we will start paying for by January. |

Omalicious1:Please kindly come off it. There's a deceit in it further beginning. That low income earners are exempted. please what is the definition of low income earners because the people collecting the minimum wage of #70000 will still pay tax or didn't you do the mathematics: #70000*12 = #840000. The exempted threshold is #800000 and they are shouting low income earners are exempted,so who are the low income earners if the most miserably paid government worker is being taxed? Let's stop deceiving ourselves and ask for sincerity and accountability. Payment of tax is not a problem but the deceit and corruption in governance |

Davidzy23:Bro, many still dont understand how it will work, hence the fear. Even many that have idea of how it will work also do not believe in the government. Subsidy remover ; where is the money or benefits they claimed would be dished out? I personally, dont trust this government, so am skeptical about the whole package. |

Lol my brother you think people haven't been hearing and "rehearing" about this new tax SINCE LAST YEAR. See if people don't want to accept something, no matter how many times you repeatedly tell them, you're just wasting your time. Human beings esp Nigerians can be very difficult to changes From my experience with most Nigerians, they shout & object any new development, but when it begins, they just keep quiet and start using same thing they initially opposed.. a very good example is the recently constructed Coastal Road 1st phase. When the Tax implementation begins, everywhere will settle. Just watch! Davidzy23: |

Lol.. They JUST DON'T WANT TO understand. People naturally don't like Tax (remember the bible how Tax collectors are hated) I bet Taiwo Oyelede had gone to hundreds of town halls to educate people, most Nigerians don't just want to hear. I just like how income tax has been "quietly" deducted from source on my monthly salaries years back. Cos if the gross salary was already in my account, and i was told to then pay tax, do you think I'll pay? Lol 😂 3kay945: |

Majority of the Nigerian workforce are employed in the private and informal actors of the economy, and most of them are still ignorant of the negative implications of the new tax law until January to march 2027 when the actual tax deductions will be made, that's when it will hit hard, not now! By all standards a family man with multiple kids earning 400k per month is still very poor because that money is not enough for his expenses. But he'll still be taxed heavily Not to talk of those earning lesser. And the end of the day you still get no benefit for paying tax. |

The new tax law is just an burden on Nigeria whether your annual income is above 800k or not. All the bank charges are still there and others in addition to the new tax law. mascot87: |
