In the Second Republic, Awolowo won in Bendel State (Edo & Delta States) and came second in the old C/River State (now C/River and A/Ibom States).

Go and ask your South South governors from Edo to Cross River state why all of them have ported to the APC, they will be in a better position to answer your question.

If the average South southerner doesn't know it, and it's only the governors that knows it, that means it only benefited the governors, and not the general populace of the south south.
