People have been saying tinubu is wicked but to me an average Nigeria on the street is full of greed and wickedness.
Imagine bus driver and agbero are not reducing transport fair despite reduction in fuel prices?

The massez are not enjoying any fuel reduction.

Check air transport, tickets sold as high as 500k.

Omo, Transportation cost is now hell. May God help us in 2026. We can blame the government for not providing public transport system in many part of Lagos but the wickedness of an average Nigeria is mild blowing.
If the average Nigerian is wicked, how is it an excuse for leaders looters like Tinubu to be wicked also?

Do leaders offer themselves to SERVE the people by promising to be as wicked as your average Nigerian? Or do they promise to be EXEMPLARY leaders?

What is the point of paying taxes to them and allowing taxes to be collected from corporations on our behalf, if they are not held to a HIGHER standard of behaviour than us?

Why do you think that the UK had five PMs in just six years if they were not held to a higher standard than the ordinary people of Britain huh

There's hardly any major city on earth where minimum wage earners can afford to rent a 1 bedroom apartment without having to save part of their income for many months. That's assuming you want a comfortable 1 bedroom apartment, with it's own toilet, kitchen and bathroom at least.

But a minimum wage earner in Lagos should be looking for a single room, not comfort. There are many very standard single rooms you can get for between 10k - 20k per month, depending on your taste. Again, I don't think there's any major city on earth where a minimum wage earner lives in comfort.
Is that how things work out for Sicilians in Italy such that Nigerians are selling their family properties to pay traffickers for a risky move through the desert and the Mediterranean Sea to get to Italy and other western countries?

Why do we rationalise our suffering due to the looting of our commonwealth by wicked leaders? To gain what? To be confirmed as Stockholm Syndrome patients huh

The migrant crisis in Libya and the Nigeria experience

The drive for survival and for greener pastures has continued to force millions of West African young men and women to gamble with death in attempts to cross over to Europe and other parts of the world. This quest to escape poverty, hunger, unemployment and insecurity, among other reasons, caused a major segment of Nigeria’s population to seek alternatives for better livelihood prospects for themselves and their families.

Those seeking economic survival see irregular migration as the best alternative, given the difficulty and resources involved in migrating through regular and legitimate routes. In many instances, very few of the original number who set out on these dangerous journeys live to tell their stories. While many regularly drown in the Mediterranean Sea, many also die in the deserts, and others are sold as slaves in a modern slave market.

Most of the victims of this trade are from West Africa. Many of them leave home with expectations of getting to Europe and other destinations perceived to have better economic prospects for them, but they end up in the slave merchant nets in North Africa. The victims are put in camps and sold in open markets in Libya, while the international community watches in silence. The geographical location of Libya renders it a transit route for migrants journeying to Italy and many other parts of Europe.

How exactly do you want God to help us that He has not done already, compared with the past when progressive politicians and military governors like Jakande and Mobolaji-Johnson built low cost houses and RELATIVELY well paid civil servants on minimum wage bought them?

Relatively well paid compared with political office holders.

The rate exposed the Author a supposed reputable outfit in terms of data.

Rating Shomolu rent higher than Festac. Shomolu that is below Mushin in terms of rent both for residential and commercial purposes.

Residential rent in Agege, Alimosho, Ketu and Oshodi are cheaper than Mushin and not the other way round.

Likewise rent in Surulere is higher than Ajah.. Even land in Surulere is more costly than Ajah and Gbagada. Land value in Mushin is higher than Ajah. This organization doesn't do diligence before putting out it's statistics
grin I’m sure you don’t live in Lagos or just ignorant…..how can rent in Mushin be costlier than Shomolu? You even went further to say land in surulere is costlier than Gbagada? Where you won even see land for those places if you not thinking of buying a property? You better go and price apartment in Gbagada and clear your ignorance…..Gbagada that as phase 1 and phase 2 estate and also a good proximity to Lagos island even closer to the island than surulere is what you comparing? undecided so much misinformation in your post undecided

It's unfortunate that our mortgage system in Nigeria is seriously dysfunctional. A stable income earner should be able to afford a decent house in any part of Nigeria with no qualms. But trust Naija, even for well paid Federal Civil Servants to access their mortgage under NHF, they need strong CONNECTION and "other" things lipsrsealed

For your information I am currently undertaking construction within Millennium Estate in Gbagada, so I am very much aware of the cost of land and rent in that axis while I live in Surulere. There are properties that goes for 250 to 350 Million within Gbagada (New four bed duplex on 450sqm land size. That rate is only cost of vacant plots of same size in prime area of Surulere.

As for Mushin versus Shomolu. Rent in Mushin has been very higher than Shomolu as far back as 70s and same still exist up till now.

If you are into real estate across both or many divides within Lagos then you will know better.

You saying Gbagada is closer to Island than Surulere shows that you don't worth my engagement.

You lie.

In some major cities worldwide, people can afford one bedroom with their monthly pay.

You lie oga, stop the lies.

In the UK, people on £3000 per month can afford houses of 800-900 per month and still have change.

stop the lies...

One bedroom flat in Nigeria is around 700k, so how will minimum wage worker with 70k afford it?

As a minimum wage earner in Canada and many European countries you can earn your rent in a month, you can't say the same for Nigeria.

grin you are just talking nonsense……I have lived in both locations of Shomolu and Gbagada. I was brought up in yaba as a typical Lagos aborigine and I have a fair knowledge of the rent prices in most locations on the mainland and I can tell you for a fact that Shomolu is more costlier than mushin. I have friends in mushin with family houses rented out to tenants and they are no where close to what is paid as rent in Shomolu. I finished from yabatech and during my undergraduate years, I stayed in Shomolu very close to Morroco bus stop and I paid 180 as at 2013/2014 for a one room self contain till it was increased to about 280k in 2017 and I moved out. My sister also recently rented an apartment just 2yrs ago and it was also a self con with a full package of almost 1m and mind you it is not a room and parlour, and if you talking of a decent room/parlour, you will budget about 1.5m while in mushin you can get cheaper, not to talk of Gbagada….I won’t even bother to engage you further grin

God bless you, if not for shared apartments, many minimum wage earners in the UK cannot afford rent monthly. Remove tax, remove rent of about 750-800 pounds, you will struggle till the end of another month. And that also depends on where you live.
Same goes for the US as well. many people share tight-spaced apartments.

there are some category of workers who don't touch that minimum wage. police is a good example. the problem is not even increasing of minimum wage to even 300k of possible but government must rejig the economy to allow cheaper prices of goods and services. lets wait and see this year and to know if Tinubu policies he has been championing will make life better and if not, we may consider another option for the office of president in next year election.

To afford a year rent or to build a 1 bedroom? By the way, you can't see minimum wage earners living in Ikoyi, Lekki, Victoria Island, Eko Atlantic city and other classy places on the Island. They only come there to work and go back to their houses at Surulere, Oworo, Gbagada, Ketu etc. The people living in those Ikoyi, VI and others are company executives, business owners, bank bosses and celebrities. Civil servants stay at Lagos Mainland.

Your analysis is not realistic. And you and I know that for a fact.

No minimum wage earner in Nigeria can afford a rent in Eko Atlantic, Ikoyi, Victoria Island in 100years.

In fact, plus Anywhere in Lekki in 50years.

Now let me shock you!
At 300,000 naira salary, it is absolutely impossible to afford any rent in Atlantic city, Ikoyi or Vi in hundred years.

Stop being a motivational speaker and kiss reality.
you are still going too far, they will struggle to live in ajah. currently a room and parlour very suitable one, goes above 1m -1.5m, minus service chargers. my friend built 2 bedroom of nine flat after sangotedo last two years and the tenants currently pay 1.5m each. cost of building a house and especially upstair and above are damn expensive.
