Memberclub:There are 6 groups with 4 teams each. The top 2 teams from each group qualify, which gives 2 × 6 = 12 teams. To create a proper knockout stage where teams can be paired evenly, 4 best third-placed teams are added to make 16 teams in total. This allows the competition to progress smoothly as Round of 16 → Quarter-finals (8.)→ Semi-finals (4) → Final (2). 4 Likes |

femi4:Why not just expand the competition to 32 teams. 8groups of 4teams. That will make things more straightforward, and reduce the chances of such top teams like Ghana and Cape Verde not qualifying for AFCON. 3 Likes |

We Didn’t Want To Play Super Eagles – Coach Of Mozambique Reveals Ahead Of Round Of 16 Tie Head coach of the senior national team of Mozambique Chiquinho Conde says his team will approach the round of 16 game against Nigeria on Monday with respect not fear, OwnGoalNigeria.com reports. Conde’s team booked a spot for the game against Nigeria after losing 1-2 to Cameroon in their final group game of the tournament. Nigeria definitely has the talent and experience to reach the AFCON quarter-finals. The Super Eagles have a good mix of seasoned internationals and exciting young players, which gives them both skill and depth.
