I checked online and the price of gold (1 oz) was less than 1m in 2020. Now, it's 6.2m per oz in 2025. This means his 3m would have bought more than 3oz in 2020. Keeping it till now would net him close to 20m, which isn't bad (imho). I just asked my sister and she said she bought 700k worth of gold and sold for approximately 1.1m in 1 or 2 years (she isn't sure), which isn't bad still. That's conveniently 50% (if a year) or 25% (if 2 years). Its still better than the rates most banks will pay, based on what I see here. I want to learn more about this to invest.

@MrSamsung

Bying land in a good location is also very good. I bought a land for 1.2m in 2023 and it's worth 4m in 2025. Same location, but closer to the road, a friend bought one plot for 900k in 2022 and it's worth 5m in 2025.
Well I am glad you understood what I wrote and even went further to find the true prices(I was using the worst case scenario for that guy to understand and see that the gold buyer was cheated, if we were to go by his words). Some assets are very valuable that they are globally priced. So no matter the currency you have, buy.

So where did you and your friend buy these lands? And please how do you determined a good location?

Can you explain this gold precisely?
What is gold in this context?
Juliearth:
I would recommend:
1.Stanbic IBTC mutual fund. Though this doesn't lock your cash, but you are guaranteed a great interest rate.
2. Treasury bills. With this amount, you are guaranteed about 750k every 9 months or more over a year.

3. Investment in gold. This is actually the best. The amount in view can get you about 31 grams of gold. You are likely to enjoy a 100 percent interest rate every year and about 500 percent in 5 years. Make sure you buy from legit vendors. I would advise you take a trip to Abuja or kaduna to purchase.

All the best!

What's the difference between fixed deposit, mutual fund, government bonds, treasury bills, stock market, equity fund pls?
Are all of them the same thing?
Yankee101:
Don’t
It’s unwise to tie your money down that long with little recourse to reevaluate your investment regularly
Especially in Nigeria where the currency can be devalued by 50% overnight

Fix 6 months long term in treasury bills and observe the economy

Gold is like land, u buy & wait for it to appreciate. You can either buy online or physical gold. But I think it better to buy online to avoid buying fake physical gold.

*Fixed deposit: money u keep for a specified period of time to yield interest.
*Mutual funds has many options, but it still keeping money to yield interest, but not for a specified period.
*Government bonds are govt instrument u buy to make profit which are distributed quarterly.
*Treasury bills are almost same with bond but the interest is not distributed quarterly. Both Treasury bills & bonds are usually for a specified period of 6 months to 1 year & 2 to 3 years respectively.
*Stock is buying & selling shares of company.
*Equity fund is a type of mutual fund that also involves trading stocks by the company u invest with.

A fixed deposit is placing a predetermined amount with a financial institution like a bank for a fixed duration of time at a given interest rate. Some banks pay your interest upfront while most pay you both interest and principal at the end of the investment

For simplification, assume government bonds are the same as treasury bills where governments can borrow money from the population to use to carry out projects. Your interest is usually paid upfront then your principal at the end

The stock market trade is buying a piece or share of a company through the stock exchange. You get dividends and assets appreciation if you choose correctly. If you don’t you could have assets depreciation and little or no dividends

Mutual funds are pooled funds from different participants for the purpose of investing and sharing the profit to participants on a regular basis

Equity fund is a type of mutual funds that invests in only company stocks

I wish to Lock 6M naira to compound for atleast 5years. Should I do piggy vest or what?
your best option is to do it annually, do safelock upfront on piggyvest and compound every year, that will give you 20% extra by first year and by 2031 you should already have over 10m. But my candid advice lock 4m, set aside 1m and start a digital startup that can x10 or even 100 leveraging on real time problems that people don't mind spending money on, something that you can get investors or accelerators to fund. Did he tell you he is in Lagos? Even at that, where in Lagos don’t they drink water? Must he get a shop on Lekki. People selling in Sango Under Bridge with that type of money, go home with millions, every month. All the trassshh you said will only work on paper.
Lazy aaaas$, is a person believing 20% is enough, in a year, on an investment of N6m.

You can follow him to Fairmoney to invest it and get 23% na. Won’t Fairmoney deduct WithHolding Tax of at least 10% from the return? Management fees nko? Bank charges nko?

There’s no bank that pays 23%, even if they pay, it’s not worth it.
I have AxaMansard Mutual Fund. Highest you will get is 15%, before tax.

You need a minimum ROI of 50% IN A YEAR before you can say you have invested.

I invested N25m in Osun State, informally. Without lifting a finger, I am making N2.4m EVERY MONTH. I mean without lifting a finger. That’s like 100% ROI in a year. I have proofs here.

N10m will give you N600k, IN A MONTH. This is not M M.M or Po nz i.

I have handled investments across banks, for big men. With their money and negotiation power, highest they get has always been 11%. You will even see banks that pay 6%.

N6m can start a low-budget house tiles business, inside market. A carton is bought around N4,500 to N5,500 and it’s sold for between N6,500 and N9000.
Can you provide more info on the investment that generates you that monthly returns please

Yes. I can.

Someone even needs at least N5m and on every N1m, he will pay N150k per month. Since this may be signed on my business account, I will take N50k from every N150k a million Naira brings.

That’s like N500k on N5m per month, for the investor, and N250k for me on every N5m yiu invest.
But be ready to leave the principal there for a minimum of one year.

If you are interested, we can agree to meet in an open place and we will draft an agreement to be signed by us and witnesses in presence of our lawyers.

It’s a butchery biz. Not life cow selling o.
