Now if after the accident when they were rushed to to the hospital the proper thing had been done (which I suspect it was done due to the passangers being high profile), blood sample would have been taken from the driver and sent to the lab to aid investigation, that would determine if the driver was impaired by substances. With that he can be charged. If he was not properly licensed to drive that also could be a reason to charge him. If it could be proved that he drove recklessly that could be a reason too, but how do you prove that without Eg video evidence. You cannot just use mouth to claim someone was over speeding, what is your evidence, is there speed monitoring device in the vehicle? Most likely no, there could be a tracker through which data could be viewed to see if there is such records. .

When the windows are closed and the A/C system is turned on, passengers do not feel like the vehicle is speeding. Only the driver will be aware that he is speeding, especially when guys are inside the vehicle. They will not know, sir. Except when the guys check the speedometer, in which case the men are unfamiliar with Nigerian reckless driving habits. They are foreigners who are unfamiliar with Nigeria, so they trust the driver to be professional. I am sure they paid a company to provide them the driver. Or can be a family member of AJ's friend.

The best way to proceed is to determine how the driver is contracted to drive them. If he is a family member, he may be prosecuted alone; however, if the service is paid for, both the driver and the company should be prosecuted.

Who told you the tyre burst? Did you even get the full details of what happened or you just want to feel good by just cooking up something and blaming some people for it?

The guy was just careless to have overtaken wrongly without having a full view of what lay ahead so he couldn't see the stationary truck on time and he rammed into it.

So, if you ask me, the accident was caused by the driver's negligence and the police was right to have him detained for causing avoidable accident. In addition, the truck should also be seized and the owner made to face the legal consequences. In a normal environment, nobody parks a vehicle on the expressway and leaves it there. It's just because we're in a lawless society where anything goes but we'll get there someday.
