Tinubu is at the centre squandering his own while the Guvnors are enjoying their own share. The citizens are the victims. Don't mind Data Boys who are spewing trash here as if their stake is more than Monthly Handout. |

mmadu4:You have been told over and over again that unless you earn over N25 million per year, the new tax law will have no additional impact on you. And if you run a business, you will not pay tax on your profits unless your profit exceeds N50 million naira. Despite all this, you people still run to social media making noises about tax law! tax law! What is the problem. The rich people who didn't use to pay tax, and will now pay some tax are not even complaining. |

mmadu4:Except you are a public servant you do not earn up to n12m or thereabouts in a year you do not pay taxes. You are only required to declare your income. The Tax Laws are largely aimed at folks who are the rich in our society. That way they will become more interested in who governs them and the need to ensure good governance by getting involved in the political process. In the long run it is good for and will deepen democracy. |

DeLaRue:If one were to address every ignorance on the social media concerning the tax law, one will only discover that 365 days is too small for a year. |

| Re: 3 States Domesticate Harmonised Tax Laws Ahead Of Take-off by DeLaRue: 7:44pm On Jan 01*. Modified: 8:02pm On Jan 01 |
bigpicture001:That has nothing to do with the tax law. The tax law HAS NOT INTRODUCED ANY NEW TAX on bank transfers. All the new law has done is swap who is responsible for paying the N50 transfer fee. Until 12 midnight last night, the N50 was deducted from the receiver's account. Under the new tax law, it will be deducted from the sender's account instead. This makes sense. If I send N10,000 to my cousin who is a student in a far away university. Under the old law,he would receive N9,950 with N50 transfer fee deducted. Under the new tax law, my cousin will receive the entire N10,000 without N50 transfer fee deducted. I, the sender, will now be responsible for paying the N50 transfer fee, so in effect N10, 050 will be deducted from my account. So all the new law has done is change who is responsible for paying the N50 transfer fee. The new tax Law HAS NOT INTRODUCED ANY NEW TRANSFER FEE. You people are all over social media deceiving people. IF YOUR BANK CHARGES YOU N50 TRANSFER FEE AND ALSO CHARGES THE RECIPIENT N50, THE PROBLEM IS WITH THE BANKS, not the new tax law. THE RECIPIENT WAS WRONGLY CHARGED. HE SHOULD COMPLAIN TO HIS BANK AND HE WILL BE REFUNDED. |

DeLaRue:For businesses, it's not profit that must exceed 50m naira; it's REVENUE. That is, income generated prior to deduction of expenses. |

What I don't understand is will tinubu too mot pay tax or will his family not pay tax? Is the tax for tinubu or for nigeria? Will the next government not benefit or continue where it's stop? It's all about politics and hatered. Start asking all the government before what they did with ur tax. I have been paying tax since 2006. Most people don't even understand what the tax is all about just want to flow with d noise. |

keemsleek:Thank you. The funny thing is this new tax law actually protects most people and businesses from multiple taxes. But they are being misled on social media by those who are just intent on creating chaos and instability in the country. Many taxes have been reduced under the tax law, and other than capital gains tax (which does not affect 95% of Nigerians), most taxes are either at the same level as before or reduced. Yet, on social media the merchant's of fear and chaos are deceiving people that they will be arrested and jailed if they don't pay tax ![]() |

The law is good if you understand it. There is always tax in the past. With the new law rich will pay more while the poor will pay less. If you are doing business below N50m a year you will not pay tax. mmadu4: |

mmadu4:What's your total earnings per annum? The new tax is way better than the old tax law which often characterize my multiplicity. In the new tax system, many people are exempted. Only that some people just want to be intentionally dumbed. It will become clearer as days go by. |
