bunmioguns:^^^ While tragedy is indeed universal, the response to it is not. In one country like that, some people (bystanders and onlookers) are offering 'prayers' amidst unbelievable chaos at a road traffic accident (RTA) scene. The only thing missing is sachets of 'pure' water usually poured by the crowd on the victims to 'revive' them. Meanwhile, in some other countries, the emergency response to RTAs is a defined, layered, well choreographed sequence of events - but still with room for improvisation if responders encounter unanticipated problems. THIS sort of response doesn't happen by chance. It takes intent, money, will, training and a clear understanding that a country is only as good as its public goods. Nigeria isn't ready. |
