Re-assess your response please maybe you want to say something else please. The same government stated that it disbursed 4.5 billion to the affected residents and used the remaining funds for infrastructure development in the area. quote author=hush15 post=137984868]

Prove of 50billion because Fayose claimed he collected 50billion which is not true...[/quote]

Who keeps corporate money in a saving account
Why are you guys showing so much ignorance like this?
Oga o. Nigerians are becoming something else
Government or corporate money can be kept in interest-yielding accounts like high-yield business savings, money market accounts, or even interest-bearing business checking.

Is 1st bank not paying interest?
Get real education, you said no

Current account no dey earn interest but you decide to follow internet instead of staying in the classrooms to learn
And lastly govt can not open savings account , they can only open current account that uses cheque and current account don't earn interest , govt account don't attract any charges whatsoever

Sir, I am from Oyo state and my governor has done NOTHING WRONG regarding this issue. He has compensated the victims and has committed state funds to rebuilding. The federal government should explain why it refused to disburse the whole relief fund ad why it took it a year. Please, reason and don't with your hands shutdown an accountable governor like Seyi Makinde
Berankis:
If Makinde is truly smart as he claimed (because I like him, though I am disappointed that a youth like him has shamed us. We are no different from the corrupt elders we blame dail), he should have apologised to the people of Oyo State, the Victims of the explosion, the FG and Nigerians at large. There is no way to go about this one than increasing the gravity of the wrong doing with all these ridiculous cover ups.
When you are caught, you are caught. Accept your fault and beg for forgiveness rather than all these arrogance and show of shame.

Actually, political commentators only assumed that. The Oyo State government NEVER SAID IT HAD WITHDREW THE MONEY SENT. They only acknowledged recipient. The Federal Government should played politics with the funds.

This is true, if you don't move the money. I did a couple of transactions and Gtb removed N35k as charges for this past December. cry

But the point is that there are always little little charges of N50 and N120 that no one understands that current account owners face. Your money no fit complete sha, except no be Nigerian bank.

But maybe this is lodged into a special account. It's possible.
Chaiii get knowledge guy , all govt account from local govt to federal government does not attract any charges from bank whatsoever and they don't earn interest as well, pls ask learned people in your area

So why the initial denial instead of coming out clean the first time? He waited until Fayose posted evidence before this late response/damage control.
Fayose don use Makinde shine already and it will affect his reputation.

Haaaa!

The money belongs to citizens of Oyo State especially those affected by the disaster. Why keeping it.

That is the problem with politically motivated gesture. Federal Government should have stipulate what the Fund should be used for.

Long, Medium and immediate Term. Now Makinde got money, he don't know what to do with it.

Now F.Govt has a reason for not releasing the other 20b.
Hello, the Oyo State government has already utilized state money of UpTo 24billion and could not wait for Federal Intervention funds which only came a year later

Makinde wrote the fed and stipulated already what he wanted to use it for. Read the write up for a better understanding if necessary sir.
He kept a disaster relief money unspent for a yearhuh The people’s money. This is an utter failure of leadership

Humans are something else... Disaster happened, money was approved for victims hospital bills and rebuilding of properties affected.
The state Governor for no reasons decides to hold the money down for over 2 years... What level of selfishness and lack of human sympathy is this?

He was holding the money down for FG to forget it and he steal it.... To think he might not be the first to do this is more worrisome
Guy you are offpoint , the place is beautiful than before the bomb blast, go and check or call someone to check for you , the state govt has fixed the problem before the FG send the money

4billion was a direct relief fund for the victims. The vast amount is meant for reconstruction of Bodija. Please read and analyse properly
so how come the total balance still remains 30b ,if 4b was removed?🙄

It's a money that is tainted with political gimmicks by the Federal Government. The Oyo State Government has once again proved to be a responsible government.

Makinde is running an irresponsible government. You were given funds to help your state and you are boldly telling Nigerians you didn't utilise it?

The only reason for this shameless self-indictment is to mask the fact that you squandered the money.

Having been exposed, you have replaced it with state funds to save face. Continue playing nonsense politics.

See how u guys focused on small change interest.
How many governors have pasted the account statement of their account.

Or is it because he did not steal or loot the 30BN.
The yayaha bello and Co, how many of them have they retrieved or even prosecuted.
Interested of how much.
Since we have shouted on stolen money how many if them have anything be done.
We should not expect a saint however this is still a better firm of accountability than most governors

Hope this is not an #Oluwole? This thing looks #Dagboish.

He thinks all Nigerians are as dull as he is.

So, no single kobo added to the money or deducted from it as charges? Just 30B as it was deposited since Nov. 2024?

Bros, e wá iró míràn pa now.

Why not display the whole statement, since it’s only a single transaction that’s in it? It shouldn’t be more than a page statement.

Oni’ro told us to go and ask from bank, as if bank will allow us have access to the account. There’s duty of secrecy on bank customers’ account, except if the bank is trying to defend itself in a court of law, or it is compelled by competent court of law to disclose such, or the client itself allows the bank to disclose it.

If Oyo State Government wants the general public to have access to this newly-opened account, it should also, publicly, publish a mandate that gives anybody access to that account.

Why keep the money unused, in the first instance? That’s if it hasn’t been used at all.

Could it be that it’s for someone to later on withdraw or go home with? Or is a fixed deposit account, on which interested yielded os being rolled over, for someone to pack later?

There are a lot to this than we think.
If you are properly educated , you will know that govt accounts are current account and current account don't earn interest
2 govt account don't attract any charges whatsoever

But then you only know what they pass to you on your WhatsApp group
Meanwhile , go check the location , you will not believe bomb blasted there cos the sign have disappeared due to the renovation from the state govt

That's bad on the part of the state government... can he keep his own money in account that's not yielding interest... the 30b already lost it value

Seyi Makinde should tell us the interest of this money? All this damage control to cover up doesn't add up here. We are not novice .
12 billion Naira interest will have been accrued on the 30 billion in two years.

It's very dull for the oyo state government to have kept that 30 billion without using it to solve the issue it's ment for.

Most of these governors are not as smart as we think. We shd start taking governorship election as serious as the presidential election in this country.

This your long story , you will think you are smart ....but look at your ignorance below

Incident happened in January, FG send money in November , do you think the State Govt wil wait for that long before doing something about it ? See your ignorance number 1 , secondly the state govt did everything needed to be done immediately the incidence happened and by August , the people of Oyo state had forgotten about the incident , go there yourself and verify , you will not know that bomb blast happened in that location , that location is still the most expensive location in Oyo state

2 all govt account are current account , govt don't open savings account
Charges don't applied to govt account at the same time , current account does not earn interest but because majority people on this platform don't really know anything pass what they tell them in the WhatsApp group, they are busy looking for interest in a current account

Go and get full education pls
so there's no interest on the account for the past 2 years? If not fayose that exposed Seyi Makinde corruption, we won't have known at all.

Ẹjọ, money was deposited in November 2024 and we are in January 2026, will you like to tell us interest ti o ti yield, abi na arrangee?

If you believe FG would send money for explosion since November 2024 and it would truly remain untouched till January 2026 laise owo ori esu, you can believe anything in this world 🤣🤣. How can a state government deposited 30 billion in a bank for over a year untouched without yielding interest? You mean we just deposited money to the bank for them to be using to run their business? Na state owned bank?

Money received for a purpose in November 2024 and another money was removed from the state purse to carry out the same project and we see graduates defending this rubbish?

When was the project carried out? Before November 2024 or after? If it was before, what happened for more than one year that the money has not been returned? If it was after, why removing from state purse when you have money from FG already?

Nigeria is so unlucky not with only leaders but citizens. We have many unpatriotic, selfish citizens that can defend anything for their own interest in this country.

Cry oh nation because your tears is not enough.
I'm not surprised seeing this. Makinde is a very prudent man. Have you been to Oyo State before ? He used to buy some things needed by the State by himself after seeing killing quotes submitted by contractors. Nobody is complaining because he was voted by the masses. He's not answerable to any godfather so, he's spending every penny received on the development of the state.
.By the way, unlike fayose, Makinde was already a multibillionaire before becoming governor. Wetin e wan take 30bn belong to the state do? Na fayose be tout wey no fit survive without politics. He has no single investment he can count on, just like wike

Imagine how wicked Nigerian leaders can be!!!

30 Billion Naira sent to a state government to assist in handling situation of a disaster that occurred and affected people, properties and probably businesses. Reconstruction, compensation and other logistics may have been factored in before releasing the funds.

But it was never used for the purpose and hence no evidence to show as proof of the use of the money. They are now saying the money is safe with them unspent!. Is the governor a bank? And how much interest has it generated?

What a wicked people?
