| Re: AFCON: Gabon Government Suspends National Team by frostmate2: 10:13pm On Jan 01 |
Very childish move by the government which wouldn't hold water. I didn't watch any of their matches but judging by results only, they didn't do too bad losing by a goal margin in all three matches? |
| Re: AFCON: Gabon Government Suspends National Team by otipoju(m): 10:13pm On Jan 01 |
giacomogiovanni:Include Zanetti......because they did not let their foot of the gas. Their extreme discipline and sacrifice made it possible |

Flangelo12:Haba, Auba is old now... Do they expect him to carry the team on his shoulders alone at that age.... They should watch how he plays for Marseille and build a team to suit his play if they expect the same kind of results. |
| Re: AFCON: Gabon Government Suspends National Team by tunjijones(m): 10:22pm On Jan 01 |
I thought it's against FIFA rule for government of any country yo suspend a team. I remember that Jonathan did it one time like this. The consequences of suspending your senior national team is that every other team in the country will be suspended too from any FIFA competition. The women football, the I der 17, the under 21, every national team will be suspended from any FIFA competition. |

Mirasteel:Sharaap. Our boys dont deserve any hash treatment. They are the best in Africa if not the ineffective NFF. They would have been among those going to the world cup if not for the bad start by inexperienced tribalistic Finidi George. You must be among those clamouring for home based coaches. If the current coach was a Nigerian, we would have been in the same position as Gabon. So, shaaraap I mean sharaaaaap. ![]() |

I am even ashamed of them.Any way I thank them for going down 2 vs 3 defeat against Cote D'Ivoire. They should have cut my betting.I thank them once again |
| Re: AFCON: Gabon Government Suspends National Team by kernniejay(m): 10:36pm On Jan 01 |
Mirasteel:It late to do so, Super Eagles have been showing zeal in their matches in the 2025 AFCON. |
| Re: AFCON: Gabon Government Suspends National Team by udemzyudex(m): 10:49pm On Jan 01 |

I don't know why some players don't like quiting, how will the younger generation get an opportunity at the national level? |

Trump Style....You are Fired . |
| Re: AFCON: Gabon Government Suspends National Team by Cmanforall: 11:51pm On Jan 01 |
Mirasteel:I don’t know how to give you a strong handshake! Nigerian government has been lenient on the Super Eagles for years. Maybe Nigeria hasn’t got a football-loving president. Although FIFA will want to come in with their bans etc, but the national team needs to be rebuilt with honour. Players will know it’s not a favour they are doing Nigerians by playing for the Eagles, but it is an honour given to them out of over 100million footballers in the country |
| Re: AFCON: Gabon Government Suspends National Team by Cmanforall: 11:53pm On Jan 01 |
udemzyudex:That’s an area that needs to be reviewed NFF is taking advantage of that Minister of Sports has no authority over NFF. He has to lobby of he has a player ![]() Yet NFF receives money from the FG FIFA’s rule |
| Re: AFCON: Gabon Government Suspends National Team by Rajosh(m): 12:05am On Jan 02 |
Mirasteel:So that FIFA will ban us from participating in any competitions for at least 2yrs right? You don't know that government interference in football attracts ban from FIFA? |
| Re: AFCON: Gabon Government Suspends National Team by oalandAgents2: 12:25am On Jan 02 |
There's nothing disgraceful about the teams performance all the games they lost were close and if luck had been on their side they may have won or drawn those matches. |
| Re: AFCON: Gabon Government Suspends National Team by oalandAgents2: 12:28am On Jan 02 |
There's no ministry of sports again on National Sports Commission 😏 Cmanforall: |
| Re: AFCON: Gabon Government Suspends National Team by Cmanforall: 1:23am On Jan 02 |
oalandAgents2:Oh… I didn’t know Nigeria has changed it. So does the Chairman of the Commission have a say over NFF? |
| Re: AFCON: Gabon Government Suspends National Team by YesDaddyTill203: 1:43am On Jan 02 |
FIFA itself is already political by giving that useless award to Trump just to make him feel good. FIFA should not be allowed to suspend any country because of political interference. |
| Re: AFCON: Gabon Government Suspends National Team by Justme556(m): 2:36am On Jan 02 |
otipoju:Why ![]() There are many in that age bracket that are the backbones of teams |
| Re: AFCON: Gabon Government Suspends National Team by oalandAgents2: 3:06am On Jan 02 |
I don't know if there is any body in Nigeria that can dictate to NFF. Last time we tried to remove NFF Chairman after a court ruling FIFA intervened so me Iam not even sure if Tinubu can tell NFF anything 😒 Cmanforall: |
| Re: AFCON: Gabon Government Suspends National Team by Mirasteel: 3:15am On Jan 02 |
kernniejay:What if they go back to default settings? they missed the FIFA world cup twice in a row? isn't that more embarrassing? Just imagine a big nation like Nigeria missing the world cup twice. |
