Having spent enough years residing in America and in Nigeria, I disagree 100% with the opinion expressed by this rapper who claims that the USA is more dangerous than Nigeria. If the rapper had claimed that GHETTOES in America are more dangerous than Nigeria, his statement would be factual due to the prevalence of "Saturday Night Special" cheap and disposable $50 handguns in most American ghettoes, where the gang and drug culture has decimated generations of semi-educated black Americans.

From coast to coast USA, the odds of falling victim to gang violence drop off steeply as soon as one leaves the inner-city ghetto, and moves into any middle class suburb, even if that safe haven is just a few blocks from the ghetto's boundary lines.

In Nigeria, however, there is NO "safe neighborhood" because kidnappers and armed robbers can strike anywhere and any time, against any and all Nigerian citizens who cannot afford to have armed police guards. When driving along any highway in Nigeria, the risk of getting ambushed and kidnapped that is prevalent all over Nigeria, simply does NOT exist in ANY American city or rural area.

Unless one is wealthy and connected enough to charter helicopters for routine inter-city travel in Nigeria, literally ANY road trip could wind up becoming a one-way trip into hell. The absence of any such ambush danger along ALL highways in the USA , taken as a single factor of consideration, makes Nigeria orders of magnitude more dangerous than any part of America, including the Deep South.

More than likely, the American rapper visiting Nigeria spent his entire holiday in an up-scale area like Lekki or Victoria Island in Lagos, and on noting that there was no gunplay as is a normal occurrence in American ghetto night clubs, concluded WRONGLY that the entire nation of Nigeria must be safer than his ghetto "hood" stateside.
The young rapper was definitely thinking about the South Side of Chicago or the South Side of Houston when he made that statement. Trust the Nigerian media to put words into his mouth.

There are highways I would NOT ever travel through in Nigeria aside from those located in the West of Nigeria. The West of Nigeria itself isn't entirely fool-proof to kidnappings on the way to Kogi State or the way to Edo State. Parts of Kwara and Niger States are on another level where you can be picked up like a snail by kidnappers and pay huge ransoms from foreign Fula bandits. A former DSS DG, Mike Ejiofor who hails from Iselle Uku in Delta North of Delta State was kidnapped by Fula bandits on the Okene-Abuja highway just a few years ago and I had goosebumps when I saw the video interview he granted.

The East of Nigeria highways have horrendous robbery and kidnap stories around then including the East-West road in Bayelsa State. If the Lagos-Calabar Coastal highway gets completed, some young Ijaw kidnappers would use the sections passing through the Ijaw areas of Delta State (Burutu, Forcados, etc), Southern Ijaw areas of Bayelsa State, and the Rivers State sections to kidnap and rob if adequate attention ISN'T paid to increasing the disposable income of those young people. I still recall reading how the younger biological sister of the then sitting Governor Seriake Dickson was kidnapped and for 2 months, she was held by the kidnappers right in Bayelsa State simply because the Governor vowed he wouldn't pay any ransom. Several prominent indigenes of Bayelsa too were kidnapped or had their relatives kidnapped. Samson Siasia's relative too was kidnapped despite all he did for that country in the field of soccer.

Absolute Rubbish!
The rapper is talking about cities in Nigeria, while you're mentioning high way. Millions of Nigerians stay all year round in city areas without having to travel on highway. Nigerians that travel often are lesser than those who don't travel.

Do school mass shootings in American schools happens in ghetto?

Do shopping mall shootings in America occur in ghetto?

Was Charlie Kirk a prominent American politician who was assassinated fews months back killed in a ghetto?

Was the attempted assassination on Trump leaving him with gun injury happened in a ghetto?

Stop talking non-sense online. Everybody knows that gun violence is a big issue in America. Even high profile individuals in America are not immune from it.

Apart from some troubled LGAs in the North, Nigeria at large is more secured than US. Kidnappings and Arm robbery in Nigeria is being blown out of proportion. Percentage of such crimes is proportional to our population nothing alarming about it when you compared our crime figures with other countries per capita.

The truth is, Nigerians are one of the loudest in the world if not the loudest. When crime occurs in Nigeria people blows it out of proportion especially on social media due to content creation money. South Africa has the highest rate of Car Hijacking, Arm Robbery, Murder and Rape in the world not just only in Africa, but check South African social media space you rarely see them reporting such crime on online. You hardly hear or see a South African saying online that he is going to japa due to insecurity in South Africa.

If you want to confirm if Nigerians are loud mouthed check how new Nigerian immigrants in UK and Canada use their loud mouths online to force those countries to implement new visa policy. Also check how our noisy yahoo boys made the whole world to believe that Nigeria is the scam capital of the world where as in the actual statistics Nigeria is even among top 5.

There are many people in the US, UK, and elsewhere living worse lives than a lot of people here in Nigeria.

We don’t hear of school shootings or gun violence in Nigeria like in America.

But in terms of economic power and opportunity, USA na baba.
In Nigeria, hundreds of students are kidnapped instead And the government negotiates with the terrorists.

What an exaggerated nonsense.

Tens of millions live in Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Ibadan, Enugu and several other towns and cities in Nigeria and carry on their daily business and activities. How many of them are actual victims of violent crime on a daily basis.

Outside of the terrorist activities in the northern part of the country, crime is not a daily experience of the overwhelming majority of Nigerians.

You are safer in many parts of Lagos or Abuja than you would be in many parts of London.

Lagos is outrightly safer than Detroit, Memphis, St Louis, Baltimore, Cleveland, Oakland, and many parts of Chicago and Philladephia.

That is not to say everything is honky dory here, but there is some definite truths in what the American rapper said.
You wrote terrorists of northern Nigeria. There are no boundaries against the terrorists infiltrating rest of Nigeria.

Terrorists of Nigeria are aided and abbeted by millions of people in Nigeria's sharia states who adopted unconstitutional Islamic sharia criminal justice system. Terrorists of Nigeria are fighting for a Nigeria to be governed with Sharia criminal justice system.

The shooters in America are isolated persons mostly on drugs or inspired by one political or religious ideology. They are mostly caught or killed..
But in Nigeria, the terrorists are rarely caught or killed.
The foregoing makes Nigeria's insecurity many times worse than America's.

Can you compare our campuses with America campuses. Most of us went to some Universities afraid. We knew what we saw, people were short died in our present. I also understand the gun violence in America because the number of deaths is staggering. You can only analyse different situations of incidence like he said it's hard that you will be kidnapped travelling but in Nigeria the chances that you will be kidnapped travelling is some roads are very high. So we can't sweep both arguments aside.

No, gun violence is not limited to "ghettos" in the USA; it is a widespread public health crisis that affects every community, though the nature and rates of gun violence differ by location.
While some urban, under-resourced neighborhoods with a history of discriminatory policies experience disproportionately high rates of gun homicide, other forms of gun violence, such as suicide, are more prevalent in rural areas.
Since 2020,there had been 100,000 deaths due to gun violence in America.

Over 27,000 civilians were killed by Boko Haram in the first 10 years of the conflict (from 2009 to mid-2019), according to the United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria.

Either the deaths in Nigeria or USA,none should be seen as being better than the other.
The killings should be stopped by all means possible.

He never made specifics like you who indicated states you probably assume are safe to you!
Just because there is a near 18-20 hours power supply in some parts of Abuja and lagos doesnt imply that 'Nigeria' have 247 power supply!
Very erroneous conclusion by the rapper!

The rapper should have driven around in some car. If he had witnessed every kilometer checkpoints by various uniform units and was harassed or threatened with death because of N500 or slapped for asking what was wrong, I think he would have had a different opinion.
