First Bank Chairman, Mr Otedola has said that the CBN Governor Mr Cardoso, is the best CBN Governor Nigeria has ever had.

I have been saying this since late 2024. If only people knew what the man achieved by turning around the naira and the economy, from the edge of collapse in such a short time.

He performed a minor miracle.

It was only last week that someone here called for the sack of the 'useless' CBN Governor for poor performance. The things you hear on Nairaland leaves one shaking his head.

I responded to that person that he was the best CBN Governor in the history of Nigeria. I am glad to read that Mr Otedola shares the same perspective.

Better than Prof Soludo. Better than Emir Sanusi. Mr Cardoso just happen to be a very quiet person. Not a noise maker.

This and the coming generation should be thankful to Mr Cardoso. Who remembers when some were certain naira was heading to N3,000?

We were basically on our way to a mini Zimbabwe situation from which Nigeria may not have recovered in 15 to 20 years. Mr Cardoso rescued us.

I hope history records him as one of the most impactful Nigerians that ever lived in this country. His contribution is that serious.

Let us see how it all ends after his tenure.

Best cbn governor isn't based on stabilizing the naira alone...

What impacts and reforms has he had on the banking sector and economy in general terms.

I don't agree he is the best cbn head.

Sanusi, soludo and the other sanusi the first I can't remember his first name now all did better. The only person cordoso did better than is emiefele.

I think otedola is speaking from a narrow perspective by viewing the stability of the naira alone in relation to it's effect on his private business not in general terms of how his term affects more Nigerians.

Put into consideration that's not the rate he met the naira!

Turkey was in the same situation as Nigeria, even before Nigeria. Since then, the Turkish lira and their economy has still not really Stabilised as Nigeria has. And in that period Turkey has had about 5 or 6 central bank Governors, as their President keeps sacking and replacing them, including Professors of economics, because there was no improvement.

Argentina was also in a similar situation alongside Nigeria and Turkey. Only 2 months ago, the Argentinian peso was on the verge of another collapse until Mr Trump bailed the country out with $20 billion.

So, like Turkey, Argentina has not recovered.

When countries get themselves into the type of problems Nigeria faced in 2023, it can take up to 10 years to stabilise. It is not easy. Turkey is almost in year 6, still no tangible recovery.

Yet, Mr Cardoso turned things around and stabilised Nigeria's economy in less than 2 years.

Other African countries have been coming to study the Nigerian 'miracle'.

But as usual, many Nigerians only see and want failure.

I knew...not like God knows everything o....that President Tinubu (and his team of course) is going to be the best President of Nigeria sonce the inception of Nigeria.
