Nigerians Will Have Constant, Reliable Power Supply In 2026 – Minister by SlavaUkraini(op): 1:21am On Jan 03
The Minister of Power, Mr Adebayo Adelabu, has assured Nigerians that the Federal Government’s priority in 2026 is reliable, accessible and sustainable electricity supply.

The assurance is contained in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja by his Special Adviser on Strategic Communications and Media Relations, Mr Bolaji Tunji.

Tunji said Adelabu gave the assurance in his New Year message to Nigerians and the people of Oyo State.

"Looking ahead, our focus remains unshakable: to deliver reliable, accessible and sustainable electricity to power our homes, industries and dreams,” Adelabu said.

He said the path forward would be driven by continuity and renewed vigour, with efforts to enhance grid stability and expand transmission infrastructure.

Adelabu said collaboration with Electricity Distribution Companies would be intensified to improve service delivery and ensure metering initiatives reach every community.

“Our Light Up Nigeria initiative remains a priority, focusing on industrial clusters and agricultural hubs to stimulate economic growth and job creation,” he said.

The minister said renewable energy development would also be prioritised, with solar and hydropower deployed to serve underserved communities.

He described 2025 as a year of focused groundwork and deliberate strides in the power sector, despite prevailing challenges.

According to him, progress was recorded in strengthening the national grid and improving overall stability during the year.

Adelabu said the Presidential Power Initiative, known as the Siemens deal, had helped curb frequent grid collapses experienced in previous years

"As Phase One of the PPI continues, we assure Nigerians of a strengthened grid that will make disturbances a thing of the past,” he said.

The minister thanked Nigerians for their resilience, saying their support remained critical to building a robust energy future.

“The journey ahead requires a united front,” Adelabu said, calling on governments, communities, the private sector and citizens to partner in reforms.

He urged Nigerians to protect power infrastructure and adopt energy-efficient practices, describing them as vital national contributions.

Extending greetings to Oyo State residents, Adelabu said the new year would usher in measurable progress in the power sector.

“To my kinsmen and women in Oyo State, your unwavering support continues to fuel my dedication at the national level,” he said.

If Fashola is still well respected as a former governor and former minister despite his lack of achievements, then why not penkelemess huh

Do you think that we are in this mess because of our tribalistic politics of rotation and zoning for offices in the local, state and federal governments either in the legislative or executive branch?

Fashola to Nigerians: 'If You Want to Have Stable Electricity Supply, Vote PDP Out in 2015'

Jul 11, 2014.

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, while marking his 2,600 days in office at an elaborate ceremony held at the Blue Roof of the Lagos Television premises, has said voting out the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from power in next year’s general election is the only way the country can have stable electricity.

According to The Nation, Fashola said electricity crisis in the country is caused by lack of ideas and insincerity of purpose on the part of Federal Government.

"Yes I agree with you that it is possible to generate electricity and to make sure that everybody in this country has electricity, we have to do the right thing. But you know what, the only way that you and I will have electricity in this country will be to vote out the PDP.

pendy79:
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Fashola, on Sunday evening boasted that he could provide uninterrupted power supply to Lagos residents between six and eight months.

Fashola spoke at the commissioning of 8.5 megawatts Lekki Independent Power Project (IPP), the fifth of such power projects in the last five years in the state.

The governor said the addition of the Lekki IPP was a testament to the fact that stable power does not require rocket science to achieve in the country.

While challenging power distribution companies in the state, Fashola said, “Let the Eko DISCOs sign a contract with me, giving part of their concessioning to the state government, in about six to eight months, there will be power in all homes in Lagos State,” Fashola said.

He added, “So, let no one say that he has no money to deliver power for the entire country. This is the limit to which the law allows us to do, but we have done this to make a statement that power can be generated. So, when they come with lies that power is impossible, you can tell them that we have power here; we make it possible”.

The project, courtesy of the state government, in partnership with Heritage Bank, is to serve Lagos State Water Corporations in Lekki Phase 1, Oniru, Victoria Island and Ikoyi, as well as over 25km of public lightening in the Lekki axis.

An accountant and banker in charge of the power sector? That’s where we are now, anything goes. I don’t see what he can say to convince the people of Oyo State with his manifesto, having failed woefully in the power sector. I only hope that record doesn’t jeopardize his ambition.

Who is going to pay for the 70% of the generated power that will be lost in transmission due to poorly developed distribution infrastructure.
Power consumption and fuel consumption are directly related, the petroleum marketer knows that most of their profits comes from the inefficiency of the power supply system.
What of the importers of generators and solar power.
Man has decided to open a new war front, it is either you are lying outright or on a suicide mission especially when this is coming from the public sector. grin

Abeg don't raise the hope of Nigerians unnecessarily. I don't think he's promising 24/7 supply; he already said Nigeria need to invest massively yearly over to years to achieve uninterrupted supply.

Wo, just make the supply this year to be good like when the supply was solid last year, when many of us had constant 12+ hours per day. That's all.

I no go lie, Adelabu came through last year when the entire country turned on him for the most terrible supply in years. He was named the minister of darkness. Days goes by without light.

I think the supply only dropped seriously towards the end of the year.

Mr. Power, just build on last year success and everywhere will be Gucci. No one in their right mind is expecting 24/7 light for next few years. Now that the FG is clearing debt owned to gas supplier, this should be an easy feat to achieve.
