😂 The rent are way higher than what's here... No 750k house for Ajegunle na those trashy a room and palour selfcon... I mean a trashy house. Any new or renovated house is from 1m+, if there's pop 1.4 above. Agent and agreement is capped at 600k, if you're lucky you see 500k Even face-to-face that use to be 4-5k per month, some landlord are increasing it to 7-12k |

I understand its outrageous, but if u know what modern landlords go through to buy building materials, you will understand better. Before Tpain, block was #300 and not its #850 respectively, cement is something else. Still tenants go still owe rent. Its the govt at fault, because they dont consider people poor masses before making decisions. This TAX will also cause price inflation on products. runningriot: |

House rents are outrageous because someone is paying for it. If you boycott these landlords, their brain will reset. |

runningriot:set cap for rent why rent what about food transport school fees and so on Rent is based on demand and supply If government is to intervene the only rational way is to increase supply by building directly or introduce policies to reduce cost of building There are many pensioners whose only source of livelihood is rent income. Their pensions are not paid on time Rent prices in different area reflects cost of land and or the building E.g Average cost of buying a house in Ikoyi is 1 billion Naira Is government doing anything about that? Why won't rent reflect that? So with respect your solution is not rational Any cap will make matters worse because such government policies are never permanent another government will come in and change it But while the policy is in place who will build a house? So with Tim e the supply problem |

| Re: Cost Of Rent For 1-Bedroom Flat In Lagos by nedekid: 5:00pm On Jan 03 |
runningriot:Government cannot set a benchmark, after all was it not government that mismanaged the economy that brought about inflation making things expensive? It not government bringing all sorts of charges to build and maintain houses? What government should rather do is to invest in massive construction of houses, funny thing is that when government even builds, they make it so expensive only civil servants that have stolen money can afford. Was it not fashola when he was governor was challenged on why houses his government built were so expensive, his response was that there is no cheap land in Lagos! It was when ambode(God bless him) came in he crashed the prices saying government out not to profit but rather subsidize the houses. |
