FRSC Emergency Number Fails On AriseTv While On Air (Photos/Video) by Glimpsetv(op): 5:45pm On Jan 03

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvg6JJajl9g?si=fo6ii0Xutke6wGR5

A funny and awkward moment unfolded live on AriseTV when a Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) official confidently praised the efficiency of Nigeria’s emergency number, 122.

While speaking on the programme, the FRSC officer described the emergency line as fast and reliable, even recalling how social media personality VDM once tried the number and was shocked that it connected immediately.

To test the claim, one of the presenters decided to dial the emergency number live on air. However, instead of connecting, the network response stated that the number dialled did not exist.

Hearing this, one of the presenters turned to the FRSC official in visible surprise and asked what would happen if it were a real emergency situation. In response, the officer explained that it was a network-related issue beyond the control of the FRSC, adding that such situations were not unusual.

The unexpected explanation left the presenters amused, and they couldn’t help but laugh as the moment played out live on television.

The clip has since sparked reactions online, with many Nigerians finding the moment both humorous and concerning, while questioning the reliability of emergency response systems in the country.

The correct number is 112 not 122 , the journalists themselves should have corrected him , this is my issue with our current crop of journalists they are as ignorant as the viewer themselves, it's terrible .

Bribery no go kill Road safety

They should just rename them to Federal Road Bribery Corps

All good ideas in the zoo end up with Bribery and corruption

This is the unfortunate thing with black man

The FRSC should be disbanded

It just exist to collect bribes on the highway

I don’t know whether to laugh or just not comment.

I mean, bro, the blame is now on the journalists? Yhu are Kidding me, right?

For someone who brags about sharing flyers all over Abuja with the emergency number to create awareness—and VDM even dialed the number and was shocked to get an immediate response—how is he now making such a mistake ?
He even went on to say we are used to the network saying, “The number yhu have dialed does not exist, please try again.”

Bro, let’s stop making excuses for people like these. Don’t let us make excuses for those who fail daily at the job they were hired and paid to do.

See how easy it is for yhu to just shift the blame, it tells alot about us as Nigerians.

This is exactly why these guys keep messing up—they know no one will hold them accountable, and someone like yhu will defend them, no matter what.

112 is the general emergency number that connects to police, fire service, ambulance, etc.
The direct toll free number to report road related cases such as accidents and recklessly driving is 122. That is supposed to link directly to the FRSC.

You need to see a psychiatrist

The FRSC man said it's 122. You're not blaming him for confusing millions of Nigerians in real time.

Na the journalist who may not even know the real number, that you see to blame

I saw the guy's comment and I couldn't help but shake my head. Nigerians, of course not all are very sick people. See mentality nah, see people we're sharing/supposed to share country with.

So journalist are supposed to educate an FRSC staff on the correct emergency number? Gosh

I've said it before and I'll keep saying it. The best thing that happened to me was leaving Nigeria in 2001 to Scotland.

Instead of you to blame the official who gave out the wrong number, you're here blaming the presenter for dialing the wrong number. Between the presenter and the FRSC officer, who is supposed to know the correct emergency number.
If you are not being hypocritical in your views, how many Nigerians know the emergency number, what's the awareness or measures put in place by the relevant agencies to educate the populace on what to do or which numbers to call in time of emergency.
Can you even beat your chest in truth that everyone in your family knows the emergency number.
