That Venezuelans are happy that a drug president, Maduro has been arrested, but somewhere in Africa, ewedu and ponmo merchants are angry that Maduro was arrested, and has been saying trash about America wanting Venezuelan crude oil. People wen get country dey happy, but people in far away Africa wey the matter no concern dey vex.

There is some merit to the arguments against Maduro's capture. There is an implicit understanding of sovereignty when nations interact with each other.

In the case of Venezuela, the US conducted a military strike on a sovereign nation to extract its sitting president, indicted on serious charges, yes, but without the consent of the Venezuelan government or any international mandate beyond its own warrants. This sets a precedent that powerful countries can enforce their laws extraterritorially through force, bypassing diplomacy or institutions like the UN.

Maduro's regime has been accused of narco-terrorism and authoritarianism (and Venezuelans themselves are largely celebrating his removal), the manner of his arrest raises uncomfortable questions about might over right. If the US can raid Caracas today, what's to stop another superpower from doing the same elsewhere tomorrow?

Sovereignty isn't absolute when a leader is credibly accused of flooding another country with drugs, but the execution here blurs lines between law enforcement and invasion.

Lol "FatimaAbubakar", it is the same way a particular set of people you are affiliated with will predictably jubilate if the US militarily invaded Nigeria to remove "Yoruba President". They have even demanded it and asked for military coup or violent protest to remove "Yoruba President".

That does not mean all Nigerians will endorse or be happy with the development if it happened.

Secondly and most importantly, Soveriegn nation must fight for their own liberation and solve their own internal problems.

That is what they signed up for when they demanded their sovereignty be respected. Nations cannot choose or reject sovereignty when they wish and, crucially, powerful nations like the USA must not be allowed to further dictatorially entrench themselves into the role of being the world's police, judge, jury and executioners.

If the world allows that it means we give up the right to judge ourselves and have instead placed that power in the hands of the USA's outlooks and decisions which emanates from the thinking, motivation and perhaps even hidden agendas of flawed and dangerous men like Trump and his extremist right wingers.

I have been a strong advocate for their expulsion from Nigeria which ironically they have come to hate me for.
