the operation failed because their was a leak in the operation, al Qaeda was tipped off in somalia where they have a stronghold. Mohammed Farah aideed who was the main target was a US soldier that worked with the CIA before he went back to somalia. Al Qaeda was behind that failed operation, that resulted in the deaths of 18 US soldiers and 2 black hawk helicopters shot down. Go and watch black hawk down to understand the full story. Besides America has carried out daring and audacious operations after that, the capture and killing of Osama bin laden was a similar way, the invaded Pakistan killed Osama and his wife, took their bodies and fled before the Pakistani military could intervene.

So they flew hundreds of thousands of Somalis to America who went on to defraud every welfare dollar they could lay their hands on .

They are few countries in the world America can try this commando style operation actually...

Mostly 3 world and destabilized countries. Even in some countries they can do it they won't try it because they are consequences.


The Chinese cautious approach to Taiwan is not a sign of cowardice!

US did not invade Somalia to remove any president. They had no president anyway.. It was already a basket case.

US wanted to see if it could help restore peace but decided it wasn't worth it when US soldiers were being targeted by the same people they were there to help.

Somalia stood no chance if the US had wanted to destroy it. Not a single chance. But US is very poor at peace keeping though, very poor.
