I am a 39-year-old adult, single, and I have been living with schizophrenia for almost 12 years now.

This began approximately after my return to Nigeria from the UK, which was totally against my wish but was my parents’ decision.

It has been tough.

I experience unsolicited images—sometimes dissociated, while many times it is the other way around.

I believe my struggle with piles has aggravated the condition further.

It became so severe that at one point the flashes were occurring almost every two minutes or so.

Other aggravating factors have been unfulfilled hopes and goals.

At 39, I had thought I would be settled, with children, maybe owning two houses, having a well-paying job, and running a personal business. But alas, I still depend on my parents for my daily meals. They are old, already long retired, and not financially strong.

I want to become a Chartered Accountant—an ACCA Chartered Accountant—but most times I wonder how I could ever achieve that, given how things currently stand.

My parents are not well-to-do, and none of my siblings has been privileged enough to attain any reasonable level of financial success yet.

The episodes are so gross that I would not wish them on my worst enemy. They are so intense that my blood pressure sometimes drops.

I visited the psychiatrist again earlier this week, and they placed me on a monthly injection in addition to my daily medication.

I need help.

Firstly, I want to move out and settle down like a man.

Secondly, I want to become a Chartered Accountant or return to the UK for settlement.

I never had any such affliction while residing in the UK. All these issues started within the first few months of returning to Nigeria and have only worsened over time.

I will be posting one-hour episodes from my journal next.

Sometimes I feel and sense that diabolism may have been involved, but I am a born-again Christian, and my parents have been ministers of God before I was birthed.

Bro, you may be allergic to a pore or mould in your parent's area. It could also be as a result of inflammation due to the overconsumption of vegetable oil.

My advice? Along with your daily meds, move temporarily (like 2-3 months) away from home. And do water fasts twice weekly for 24 hours each (fasting helps clear the mind due to cortisol releases. This is not a religious fast so you can drink water).

Compare and contrast afterwards. Hang in there bro. You are not alone. I know people who are in your shoes.

Happy new year everyone. I really don't have much friends after rmy returning to Nigeria. I don't find the level ground most times to relate or say people I feel emotionally drawn to although Im always looking out for such. And all just coming together...

I have been seeing the pshychiatrist of late and been on injections. It seems the episodes hve improved but one episode could be dangerous than a whole day episode. It's that dangerous lately
