Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro flashes a peace sign after arriving in the US following his capture by American forces
Venezuela’s ousted leader Nicolás Maduro was seen flashing a peace sign and smirking at officers as he arrived in US federal custody in New York following his dramatic arrest.

Maduro was transferred to Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center after being flown into the United States earlier on Saturday. The facility is one of the country’s most high-profile federal jails and has previously housed inmates including Sean “Diddy” Combs and Ghislaine Maxwell.

Footage circulating online shows the former president throwing up a peace sign and giving a thumbs-up while handcuffed as he was escorted by law enforcement.

During a perp walk at the Drug Enforcement Administration offices in Manhattan, Maduro was also filmed wishing officers a “Happy New Year,” before attempting to speak in English and then switching to Spanish, asking, “Es buenas noches, ¿no?”, meaning, “That’s good night, right?”


Authorities said Maduro was formally charged in New York with narco-terrorism and weapons-related offences before being moved to the Brooklyn detention facility.

He has consistently denied allegations that he led or supported a drug trafficking organisation.
US officials said the arrest followed a large-scale overnight military operation in Venezuela that involved airstrikes and special forces.

According to accounts from Washington, Maduro and his wife were taken from a fortified compound and later transferred to a US military vessel before being flown to New York.

President Donald Trump, who has long accused Maduro’s government of operating as a “narco-state,” has repeatedly defended the operation, saying the former Venezuelan leader could have surrendered earlier.

He will spend the rest of his life in jail, I trust the US. Belarus offered this man and his wife safe exit, but he chose to be brave by brandishing sword with his supporters cheering him to his final doom.

The same fate will befall all those who steal elections and hound opposition because they have power. Their supporters will keep cheering them until their doomsday. Where are the allies, China, North Korea and Russia now? Those he trusted only issued statements and that is all they can do.

But Russian military is occupied right now, and china just can't fill in militarily for Russia.

I think it is time to do away with a ruling system in which one person has executive power. Let's make a more complicated system in which executive power is shared amongst all citizens, with such a system, you can't just kidnap one man and put the country into chaos for that.

COMRADES, I watched a certain video on either Aljezeera or BBC sometime ago when Maduro was bragging that if USA is strong enough they should come and arrest him. So what is happening now

BRICS is mainly an economic union.
So the high expectations as it regards military involvement of China and Co, does not materialise..

In any event, China has never taken any military positions that pitches her against the west, unless when the crises area is close to her borders like in Vietnam or North Korea. They do so for several reasons..

The Chinese economy unlike that of Russia is entangled with the western economy. China also has an engrained policy of not directly intervening in other countries issues. So while they can fund your projects and military developments, they won't fight your battles..
