Many websites were listed that sell ethnic food items. I rely on Shinjuku because it is the number one for African foods. The rest mostly cater to non-Africans. If the item is not in Shinjuku, I would rather wait, and when available, I purchase enough to last for months.

Compliment of the season my bosses here,
Sending you all the best wishes 🍀

In line with preparation for the next year application window, I want to ask for suggestions and look forward for my application.
I graduated from university in 2018, with 2.2 above 3. And I thinking if it wise to apply for research program before applying for masters degree, according to most School website it seems cheap.. I'm self sponsoring...

Everything depends on how competitive the intended program is, the university and the professor in-charge.

In whatever you opt for, learn the language if you intend to get a job afterwards. I do support the initial six-month research program as it brings you up-to-date with research methods and skills in a Japanese university environment. But as a privately financed student, endeavour to check the number and kinds of scholarships available, esp to Africans/non-East/Southeast Asians. You will need them when you commence your full master's program. Your grade is weak for MEXT, but I do think (probable) that if you perform assiduously duringthe research program, you can/might discuss/raise it up with your prof to nominate you for the MEXT University recommendation scholarship. It is the most elite scholarship, but it is restrictive in that you cannot apply for another scholarship. For that reason, focus on private scholarships - there are plentiful and munificent.

The next enrollment is for April 2026.
Which means application should have closed or just about to close.
Better best to start sending mails to tentative Professors and copy admissions and international departments in those mails.

Going through Research route is not bad. from the eye of a professor it is commendable and means you what to learn.
Please in your mail, try to emphasize that you would require scholarship if it were available.
Use you AFRICANNESS, you are poor but want to go to School.

However, do you have a draft of your intended research?? Kindly refer to page 44 of this thread for reference.

My humble 2 cents.

Happy Holidays

I applied for a business visit visa in October 2025 for a travel scheduled for November 2025 (my trip was 7 days in total - 9th to 15th November). I was issued a 3 months visa within 20 days after I submitted at VFS Abuja

You should be able to get an appointment within a month. All relevant information is at https://visa.vfsglobal.com/nga/en/jpn/apply-visa

Just to mention, I booked an appointment on the VFS website, but the date I got was closer to my travel date so I had to request for a manual appointment by emailing info.japannigeria@vfshelpline.com I got a response and an appointment for the following day.

I hope this information helps.

Thanks so much for this information brother but hope you won’t mind updating us on the documents you submitted and if tax clearance certificate is necessary.
Thanks

So for the short term business visa, I submitted:

A visa application form. Be mindful of the photo passport size to be attached to the form. I took the suitable one at VFS
Flight ticket. You are not required to purchase flight tickets, you only need the part that shows the flight number, departure and arrival date and time for Nigeria, Transit Country, and Japan.
A self introduction letter (I am self employed)
Company introduction letter showing purpose of travel signed by a director
Company CAC
Company Tax Clearance Certificate and other Tax payment receipts (WHT, VAT etc) . So yes I submitted a TCC. Its on the document submission checklist
3 months Personal Bank Statement. I was surprised when the embassy wrote me to submit a 6 month bank statement
Contract documents
Hotel reservation from booking.com
Letter of Guarantee from the Japan Company
Invitation Letter from the Japan Company
Travel Passport of a contact from the Japan Company

PS - It was my first time in Japan, but a frequent traveler to popular destinations.

All the best.

Please , I am new here . I have plans to move to Japan via study route. I am in my early 30s, I have HND in accountancy, I don't know which degree I should go for(maybe post graduate studies), because I contacted some schools and they do not accept my qualification for a master's degree. I would also want my family to join me in the long run.

I don't think many Japanese universities understand the concept of HND from a Nigerian perspective compared to British and American universities. You will have to explain in simple English what your degree means and preferably comparing it to a Japanese counterpart. Sorry, but I don't know what the Japanese version of HND is.

After the explanation or no explanation at all, I recommend the research student pathway aka Kenkyusei, which is for six months. Do this for six months, be very good at it and seek admission into a Master's degree program. But then, that profession prefers certification rather than academic degrees. So, why not pursue ICAN and advance your career? Because, like it or not, you will need to possess the Japanese equivalent of ICAN to get a job here (I have seen it as something Nissho Bookeeping level this and that).

.

HND is a diploma and not a bachelors.
I am not sure it qualifies you for admission into universities.

Japanese equivalent of a diploma is "senmon gakko" also a diploma.

if possible, why not register into NOUN and get a bachelor's degree.

Yes.

Also, you checked the admission website pages of your tentative universities. This will also confirm the need for IELTS.

Regarding Niigata Prefecture.

1. If it is University of Niigata, Niigata city (capital of the prefecture), yes very good place and a big city, and a national university and not as expensive as Tokyo.
Also have the shinkansen line.

2. If is Nagaoka University of Tech, Nagaoka Niigata Prefecture, good university but student jobs are not common, to get student job you need a car to drive to other neighboring cities.

3. If it is International University Japan (IUJ) good university for MBA, i think number one (1) currently in Japan. However, the school is in the middle of nowhere., No part time jobs available. Except you have full scholarship. Please stay Away.

4. There is one more university in Shibata, Niigata Prefecture, it is good but no part time jobs, so stay away too.

So, if it is School number 1 above, yes highly recommended.

Then all the best.
It is a really good school. I think it's currently the highest-ranking University in Japan for an MBA or economics field.
also, your fellow colleagues would be government official s form Asian countries (Nepalese, Mongols, Indians, North Africans, Slavs etc).

Please take it as student job is confirmed.

For job hunting after or before graduation, companies like Rakuten or any companies with related investment in Africa/Asia or Latin America will take interest in such job employment applications.

And in winter, the place is great for skiing and snowboarding.

it is 30 mins by local train to Nagaoka (for shopping, cinema, using the bullet train)

Great choice, go and Conquer

Congrats.
