Flets:You should add visa rejection. This una govt no get sense, they are just using propaganda to finish the country. The root cause is poverty. They should give us death rate. They should give us the stat for politicians. Poverty and visa restriction don cause many deaths. what have they done to improve hospitals. These people think these things are magic. Fix the medical system to the point that politicians use our hospitals, then I will know they are serious. Besides, this stat is only based on the people who go to CBN for fx |

Flets:good observation however is black market exchange rate far higher than those of CBN.i doubt .say a patient needs 20k dollars now to run medicals abroad, how much do you think the black market rate will be higher than the cbn rate. At cbn rate of 1430 or 1450naira/1$ , its about 28m naira where as black market rate of 1490naira/1$ will be around 29M naira. Do you think someone that could afford 28m will now have a change of mind just because of 1m difference.i honestly doubt sir. I stand to be corrected sir Sha. As rightly mentioned in the post, a Doctor with aneurysmal dilatation of one of the major brain blood vessels (a time bomb) had to quickly undergo a vascular repair surgery in cidacrest abi Duchess hospital (owned by those guys with vast experience practicing abroad) in Lagos in 2024. They had to help him pay the 20/30M naira medical bills. Wonders are happening in Nigeria now oo especially that Lagos.Portharcout is trying too now as most Nigerian guys practicing abroad are coming back home to establish. I think cidacrest got a branch in Abuja too and people are paying for the services.imagine paying a consultation fee of 40/50k just to see/speak with their Doctors o . Wetin we dey pay 1k-5k to do in most govt hospital. |

But but but.....what about the president he is currently in Europe taking taking his injections to recharge. That's tax payers money and it runs in millions of dollars. Why lie, Agbadorians and CBN lies spinning wheel, Why? |

People can't afford the high forex needed to travel for essential medical care abroad, so they stay here and die slowly. That's what's happening. Has nothing to do with a socalled improvement on local medical service delivery. Where are the new hospitals? Everything should not be propaganda.. |

⁷ Flets:One major fault in your analysis is the fact that cbn and black market exchange rate are almost the same. You are when you said, it is quite possible that more people are probably sourcing for funds for such purpose in the black market. But the government is also right to say the medical capacity of Nigeria has deepened, we have more 'world class' private hospital now, than we used to have. I know for a fact, that some people abroad uses Nigerian medical facilities when they can, because it is faster and cheaper as long as you can pay. While the medical facilities abroad are much better, you are placed on que deepending on how serious the doctors feel your case is. If you have money and you want to jump the line, you can reach out to specialists in Nigeria who will give you faster attention as long as you can pay |

“ According to CBN figures covering January to June 2025, Nigeria’s medical tourism spending plunged by 96.2 percent year-on-year, falling from $2.38 million in the first half of 2024 to just $0.09 million in the corresponding period of 2025. The sharp contraction, amounting to a $2.29 million decline, marks one of the steepest drops recorded in outbound healthcare expenditure in recent years”. Truly this APC government specializes in lies and propaganda. CBN only just used the total of applications through their payment systems to confuse their blind and bewitched followers. So to them, Nigeria with a population of close to 250 million people made forex application of a mere $2.38m for medicals abroad? With all the leaders, business people and rich civil servants traveling frequently, a mere $2.38m would suffice for hospital visits abroad? If $2.38m was the amount applied for in 2024, how did the CBN not factor in transactions between citizens and abokis/bureau de changes? Or they want to tell us that people did not purchase forex from those sources, knowing the delays experienced with purchasing from government and the slim gap in exchange rate? Which public officer would ever bother to purchase forex from government with looted funds, to travel abroad with their family members for treatment? If that same amount fell to 0.9, who says that citizens have not been purchasing their forex outside the CBN? How many of the good hospitals are accessible to all Nigerians? By the way, are the same hospitals not charging the same amounts or more than those abroad? For example, kidney transplant in Nigeria costs over N50 million, when you aggregate dialysis and transplant. How many can afford it? There’s a very long queue for that and the wealthy who do not trust local hospitals and do not want to waste time, travel abroad. Do they purchase their forex from CBN? |

Na lie. Forex rates are high. Countries are tightening their visa policies. Propaganda doesn't help. Tell Tinubu to fix the healthcare system and stop dishing out lies to the public. |

Don't you get tired of justifying lies ![]() UCH and other medical facilities that used to be the saving grace for ordinary Nigerians are now shadows of themselves yet you're here talking about isolated dialysis centers. A visiting friend was rushed to UCH some months back only to find they couldn't even do bloodwork....they were referred to a private lab and he had to rush back...UBTH, LUTH etc are not far off either. Why have you decided to hate the truth just to please your masters Yet youre always first to defend rubbish.Take your own advise and just shhhshhh! The reduction in medical tourism is not because of dialysis centers or deepened capacity but changing unfavorable foreign polices that have stiffened and the drastically reduced purchasing power of Nigerians....not that this your false stat affects/includes your masters or their children anyways🤣 helinues: |

helinues:The news is a good development. But even you should see what's going on here: people won't take this seriously until they see their leaders, including the president, using Nigerian hospitals. That's the power of LEADERSHIP by example. |

The only translation to this statistics is the inability to afford these foreign medical trips and a spike in medical complication deaths in our hospitals. Nigerians aren't patronising medical tourism doesn't translate to good health care system in the country. |

Flets:I know a couple of people who spent 8 and 10 million Naira to do surgeries in Abuja. My cousin just did a 1 million surgery on his leg. I don't know about the validity of the report but I do know more people are having surgery in Nigeria because hospitals are investing in machines to assist during surgery... Even Nigerian General Hospitals are now having Private wings run by People with Private Sector medical experience ..more modern machines are slowly coming in. |
