Ngozi Odu, Rivers State Deputy Governor, defects to the apc

Ngozi Odu, the deputy governor of Rivers state, has registered as a member of the ruling All Progressives Congress, becoming the latest senior official in the state to defect from the opposition.

Odu registered as an APC member at her polling unit in Akabuka, a town in the Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni area, party officials said.

After completing the registration, she joined supporters in singing “On Your Mandate We Shall Stand,” a song closely linked to President Bola Tinubu and the party’s campaign messaging.

Her move follows the recent defection of Rivers governor Siminalayi Fubara, who joined the APC after meeting Tinubu at the presidential villa in Abuja. The decision shifted the balance of power in the oil-producing state.

Tony Okocha, the APC chairman in Rivers state, registered Fubara as a party member on the instruction of the party’s national secretariat.

At the national level, APC chairman Nentawe Yilwatda later named Fubara the party’s leader in Rivers state, consolidating the party’s control of its structure in the state.

If Tinubu knows what's good for him, he should pitch his tents with Wike. Only rigging can get him Rivers votes in the presidential elections. Sim will not shed blood to deliver him come 2027, unlike the other party. Beyond the eye-service sycophancy, the people of Rivers are not with Tinubu.

Officially Fubara is the APC 001 in River state, no doubt, but he should thread softly,

Wike can do and undo.

When it comes to experience in the game, Fubsrs is never a match with Wike.
When it comes to political structures, After Asiwaju in this contemporary politics, Wike is next in my own opinion (You may disagree) with staunch of supporters/ allies/loyalist, the way and manners Fubara commissioners resigned last year shows how rooted Wike is in River politics.

Fubara is still struggling to have structure in River state while Wike has trusted allies in every state of this country, if you doubt me, go and listend to Governor Bala Muhammed last public interview.

In all of these, Fubara should learn from the relationship of the likes of Governor Usman Ododo to Yahya Bello, Tinubu to Late Muhammed Buhari, Gbajabiamila to Tinubu, Governor Zulum and Vice President Kashim Shettima etc

Once Wike decamped to APC before the 2027 election, we may about to witness the same scenario which played out in Lagos APC Gubernatorial primary in 2018 , when Former Governor Ambode was in APC, Former President Buhari APC, even th then APC aso rock cabals,Biafrans in Lagos, some APC Governors at that time were supporting Ambode but he couldn't still secure his second term ticket simply because he doesn't have the control of the party.

My humble advise for Fubara is as he tries to get his tentacles rooted in politics, I doubt if he will withstand the heat if Wike eventually decamp to APC but until then,
So before then, he should seek all means to be on same side with Fct Minister.

I will not be surprised if Wike decamped to APC and Fubara misses his return ticket in 2026.

I cross my legs enjoying interesting events unfolding from Rivers, Kano, Osun, Abi and others.
