They've enjoyed light since the days of Tinubu's 2nd term as governor.

This expansion is a very welcomed one, if it's true

The Egbin power station was meant to feed Lagos State alone and not the National Grid but Obasanjo reneged last minute with Nasir El-Rufai's influence. I guess that's Nasir's unforgivable sin against Tinubu.

Enron was the technical partner, Folawiyo was the financer and Lagos State was meant to be the sole beneficiary

The Lagos boys were painted but never backed down. Thankfully, Buhari lifted the clause of certain Megawatts limits on intending entities that demanded they upload it to the national grid if they generate beyond a certain MW

We need more true federalism in this country

ENRON as a company failed terribly in the US. The project couldn't have worked out well. It wasn't a very good arrangement too based on technical explanations by experienced engineers then.

I hope an incompetent staff will not again turn the wrong valve and damage the equipment.

We heard the same about Dangote's refinery.

Steady power supply in Nigeria is not "Rocket Science". But like Insecurity and Petroleum Subsidy saga, vested interest won't let the system work!

You are mixing up two things. The Egbin Power Station existed before the AES Barge.

Egbin Power Station is the biggest power station in Nigeria. It has existed since the 1980s.

What was done during the Tinubu Era was the AES Barge, a power station on a barge that was moored near the Egbin Power Station.

Enron's failure had no major impact on the project because Enron's role was taken over by AES. The project worked, the only issue was that it was feeding power into the National Grid instead of retaining the power exclusively for Lagos.
