There are many people who earn less than N100000 a month and there are many people who make above 50000 naira monthly. The government has no business taxing salaried workers or those who earn less than N100000 monthly, Taxes will make them poorer. A reasonable government should first assess the standard of living e.g cost of food, house rent, transport fare and adjust the current tax bracket. For example cost of living is slighty lower in Kaduna compare to Lagos. Nigeria is not USA ,Uk or Europe. Taxes are good if it is use to provide pension for retirees, build road, schools, provide lights and so on. Then there should a regulatory body who monitor how the taxes are collected and spend so there is no room for corruption. A more reasonable tax bracket should look 1 MILLION NAIRA to 3..4million nairaYEARLY - no taxes 3.5 million naira to 5.49 million naira yearly-5% 5.5 million naira to 7.4 million naira yearly- 10 % 7.5 million naira to 10.4 million naira yearly- 15% 10.5 million naira to 14.9million naira yearly-20 % 15 million naira to 19.9 million naira yearly-25% 20 million naira to 29.9 million naira yearly- 30% 30 million naira to infinity yearly- 35% |

lordm:Onye data boy, I guess you don't work Let me be sincere with you, the rich will never pay but you and I will pay indirectly for the big men. You don't own a factory, you don't own a supermarket, you don't have any big businesses. Big men add PIT, CIT, & VAT to the final price of their goods/services. estate agents now charges VAT although some have been charging it for ages, if you are going to rent a house/office through their firm, you must pay VAT asides agency, legal, caution etc which at the end of the day increase your rent. Multiple tac will never help the poor, and the rich will never pay the price at all. |

I work and I do business. You want to live in a good place and you don't want to pay tax. Try that in UK or US and see yourself in jail. yesloaded: |

lordm:😂 The UK, USA, Canada etc provided enabling environment, their politicians no dey steal tax and loans. Can you give me t breakdown of how the spent the 50naira stamp duty or you want me to show you the news where Buharis administration admitted that his cabinet stole the money realized from stamp duty? Some of you guys makes me laugh, as a pr in Canada, your child gets $600 benefits even if you have 3 kids, each of them get this benefits, not one time thing o, do we have the same in Nigeria? Do you think people just pay tax without getting anything in return in those countries that you just mentioned? In Nigeria, you pay monthly for securities, you repair your roads, you buy transformer, you pay for everything but the case is not the same in UK. Community don't fix roads in UK, government does |
