Nigerian police did more than this for me in 2013.
I arrived in Kwara state not knowing it was election day. I needed to get to my destination and return to Lagos same day. I spoke to a policeman at the checkpoint. He took me to their oga, and I gave him the details of my mission in Kwara. This oga told two officers to drive me with their police car to my rural destination and bring me back to Ilorin for free. I will never forget the experience.
Why will you travel not knowing it was an election day. Through more lights on that.

It's rare to find good and honest police like that.

Can never happen in this country.
It is always the opposite direction
It can though rare.

Even in Ghana it's not a common happening, it's strange- that's why it's news. If it's common it won't be news

I would've doubted if it was a Nigerian police which I know can never be possible.
It's highly impossible for a Nigerian police to do that.
That's impossible, even in the dream.

I think Kwara state was doing their governorship elections. There were no elections in other states. We only got to know about the elections deep into the journey. I remember we were racing to get to Ilorin before 8am.

I'm almost sure same happens in Nigeria...but we don't read about it. Imagine this happened in Nigeria .... and posted here on NL .... I can bet my life by daylight that officer would be summoned to HQ and must bring along every kobo he was given .

Generally, Ghanaians are good people and civilised, Ghana Police are quite professional and friendly as well. We have bad ones among them as well. On the other side, we have good people in the Nigerian police, just that the bad ones were more. There is tremendous improvement lately - I am speaking from my observation and experience.
