Anthony Joshua's 'reckless' driver is pictured as he faces potential life sentence over Nigeria crash that left boxer in hospital and killed two of his close friends

This is the chauffeur who was driving Anthony Joshua when he crashed and killed two of the boxing champion's best friends in Nigeria last week.

Adeniyi Kayode, 47 - pictured here for the first time - was at the wheel of the black Lexus SUV when it ploughed into the back of a stationary truck carrying soya beans as he drove Joshua and his friends.

Strength and conditioning coach Sina Ghami, and personal trainer Latif Ayodele, both 36, were killed instantly in the crash as the vehicle's side was sheared off.

The boxer, 36, and Kayode himself escaped without incurring serious injuries.

In Joshua's case, his survival was miraculous as he had swapped seats with Latif at the last minute before the group drove from the capital Lagos to the town of Sagamu, an hour away, where the fighter has family.

Kayode appeared before a magistrate in Sagamu on Friday charged with dangerous driving causing death, reckless and negligent driving, having no licence and driving without due care and attention causing bodily harm to damage and property.

If convicted he could face life in prison.

The authorities are still hunting for the driver of the truck which was parked illegally on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway – one of Nigeria's deadliest roads.

I would have loved to know what really happened.

No one has really told us how the accident happened, what caused it or led to it.

I only heard a video interview of an eyewitness who said it was another vehicle that caused the accident and that it escape but even the eyewitness didn't say how or what the escaped vehicle did that caused the accident.

The guy was careless period..if u are a trained driver ,u should know that u can only overtake a vehicle infront if and only if there's no obstruction in your front expect the vehicle u are about to overtake...but otherwise u should slow down and fall in line until you are free to overtake...running into a stationery truck is the height of negligence as far as driving is concerned....I just pity the man sha...because AJ is just lucky he's sitting at the back of the drivers seat...because is only natural for the driver to try at all cost to save his own life during this kind of chaos

Hmm how on earth would AJ allow someone without license drive him? Well for all those criticizing people saying Nigeria happened to AJ I guess you can see the truth here.

Nigeria did actually happened to AJ because he hired a driver with no license to drive him knowing fully well that they'll get away with it from officials, because no police or other checkpoints can stop them. I understand the trauma AJ would be going through now

Is it that the driver deliberately crashed the vehicle and killed Joshua's 2 friends?

What if it was Joshua's junior brother that was driving and this thing happened? Would he face the ordeal that is staring this man in the face?

Try to make money óò.....

Many public transport drivers don't even when last they updated their driver's license while don't even have any.

These are the people that contribute greater percentage of our road accidents and lost of lives of innocent and poor passengers.

Unfortunately, no one care many because they not AJ or because they never make it.

This guy will be used to make bad example not even to Nigerians alone but to show the world that we have LAW

This save face tactics by ogun state is so bad. The roads are a death trap who is talking about that.
