To this thread: https://www.nairaland.com/8594649/anthony-joshuas-driver-adeniyi-kayode One popular boxer, Anthony Joshua, hired a driver, Adeniyi Mobolaji Kayode, to take him to his destination. His driver was moving as though he had two lives but the boxer was enjoying the ride. The boxer comes from a country where he wouldn't dare drive at that speed. But because he believes anything goes in Nigeria, he doesn't give a damn. Suddenly, there was a car crash and two passengers, considered important personalities, died on the spot. The accident left the boxer injured as well. My point is, "Why are the authorities prosecuting only his driver while letting him go?" After all, the boxer hired the reckless driver to chauffeur him to his destination. If he was driving recklessly, the boxer could've called him to order immediately, but he was enjoying the ride up until the fatal accident happened. I think I have the answer to the question. Nigerian laws are made to punish the weak who cannot defend themselves. No, I don't see why Anthony Joshua's driver is the only person being prosecuted by the authorities. The driver was riding recklessly and the man who hired him didn't call him to order. One can only understand this when we see how politicians move around. They speed as though they have two lives or bullion van drivers who consider the money they are ferrying more important than other motorists. Nigérian laws only punish the poor and pardon the man who was being chauffeured....the same man who didn't tell the driver the speed limit he should maintain....the same man who couldn't speed like that in his UK. Now, Nigeria wants to punish the driver because he has nobody to defend him. Nigeria needs value reorientation! |

Because he's a poor man. If na one of AJ's friends dey drive that car, I'm not sure he'll be arrested. The persecution of poor men in this country is on the rise. |

Buccalcavity2:Thanks for this response. Driver had a duty to drive safe at all times. |

They are looking for a fall guy.. I doubt if that guy was at fault. Imagine Nigerians sounding alarmed about the "high-speed" of a convoy carrying VIPs on a Nigerian road! So VIPs drive slowly in Nigeria? Driving like Lewis Hamilton.., Is that not perfectly normal ![]() The global reactions to that accident were simply overwhelming and the politicians were just trying to blame someone very conveniently. The driver perfectly fits the bill. Nothing else. We heard of tire bursts, we heard the driver talking about the brakes refusing to work no matter how hard he tried. We read about a trailer full of Soya beans packed on the busiest highway in Nigeria for 4 days running! Yet, the authorities went for the driver, the easiest target.. Aside though; do you guys remember that the British were angry with Joshua for his new love for Nigeria? In his last fight against Jake Paul, he came into the ring with the Nigerian flag! He used to use the British flag. He complained of the heavy taxes on his wages, almost 40 million usd by the British for a fight held in America! If he absconded and started fighting as a Nigerian, he most probably will pay zilch as taxes! You think the British will keep quiet as he slios away? Do remember that he had that accident in a Lexus bullet proof SUV. Modern cars like that can easily have their computers hijacked and the car remote controlled into oblivion.. .. Nigerians ronu.. |

Zonefree:Please stop that. I hate when we can’t dispassionately assess issues without throwing that poor man jab. The first day I saw the accident, I suggested that the driver be prosecuted. If you look at the impact that vehicle had, a Lexus SUV for that matter, you’d realize that only recklessness could have caused the accident. If he were to be a little bit more careful, he would have been able to maneuver the situation and avert that tragedy. The accident is 100% on the driver and those who drive know it. |

They are persecuting the driver because the average Nigerian Christian mentality still remains that his reckless driving killed the two friends of Joshua. Rejecting pre-destination is simple as rejecting your creator and disbelieving in the day of resurrection Christians sef ![]() |

MadPolitician:If Israel could hack and blow up Hesbollah’s walkie-talkies, then it would be foolery to doubt that a car computer system could be compromised. But the question still remains, what are the odds? It would be more plausible if you allege that the driver was compromised by the British to take Joshua out because of whatever grouse they have with him. But the question would be, why would the British wanna kill him? They need him alive to collect more taxes. The only thing I can listen to, when verified, is that the vehicle brake system failed or any other thing beyond the driver’s control. Asides that, I blame the driver for the accident. |

BAILMONEY:So you believe in destiny? You believe that before you were born, God already destined you would be on Nairaland someday? You believe that our “Good God” will create someone’s in His image and likeness and then destine the person to die by accident or by plane crash with their bodies blown to pieces in the air? You believe that our “Good God” destined some people to be vulcanizers, tash pickers or mad and roaming the streets? |

Really..you are lawless and you feel that nobody should be held responsible. The driver drove the car, he is responsible for their death |
| Re: Why Is Anthony Joshua's Driver Being Prosecuted? by WizardOfNG: 5:20pm On Jan 07 |
If they have properly established the accident was caused by driver's error then no need for conspiracy theories. He should be prosecuted. |

SmartPolician:Abeg, stop this story of 'he is being persecuted because he is poor' First, do you know the number of rich and poor people in this country that have not been prosecuted for crimes because everytime we dey shout 'Stop persecuting them"? And yes, politicans speed, and it is wrong...but so do a lot of ordinary Nigerians. A lot of ordinary nigerians disobey traffic lights, disobey the rules of the road, speed like madt people...and when FRSC tries to stop them, na violent behaviour you go see. You are using the same old format to get people who should be in jail free...because whataboutism. And we have the situaton because you nigerians don't want the laws enforced. Anytime we dey call for investigation of politican, you go come here defend your side. Anytime we see people disobeying traffic laws, you go say why are they persecuting only him. Let's not excuse evil abeggi. Even if he is the only one, the fact remains that the driver was driving recklessly. Had he driven carefully, he won't be in this hot peppersoup to begin with. If we must start enforcing laws in this country, let us start from somewhere. |
| Re: Why Is Anthony Joshua's Driver Being Prosecuted? by nairalanda1(m): 5:57pm On Jan 07 |
Zonefree:AM sure the driver was caught years before before overspeeding, and he was let go back then because 'he is a poor man and politicans are being excused everytime' Well, see what excuse of evil hath wrought. |

...because he was meant to die but he survived without any iota of injury. That must be a case of reckless & senseless involuntary manslaughter |

He was not a licensed driver. He will be punished for that |

You're a driver, earning at best 500k per month carrying one oga or the other for a company . . . then you go and effectively end the career of someone that makes over 1 billion naira per match He's in for life |

What of the Dangote truck driver that killed Phyna's sister and her Okada rider? Have they prosecuted him? Buccalcavity2: |

| Re: Why Is Anthony Joshua's Driver Being Prosecuted? by Kukutente23: 6:37am On Jan 08 |
Buccalcavity2:He asked a sensible question Justice can't be selective in a decent society No life is more important than the other Worse still, phyna's sister was a Nigerian while AJ's friends aren't but the system is quick to protect them over one of its citizens |
| Re: Why Is Anthony Joshua's Driver Being Prosecuted? by ddippset(m): 6:47am On Jan 08 |
He was driving without a valid driver's license. That's an offence. |
| Re: Why Is Anthony Joshua's Driver Being Prosecuted? by RISQUE: 8:00am On Jan 08 |
Penguin2:As a hirer, are you not mandated to caution the driver when you notice his over speeding? You guys haven't answered his question, if that vehicle was being driven by one of those AJs friends, do you think he would have been prosecuted? Absolutely not. I feel at this juncture, if the driver is being prosecuted, AJ has some case to answer as well. They have used that poor man as scape goat. When you guys see the truth, say it and stop twisting things. |
| Re: Why Is Anthony Joshua's Driver Being Prosecuted? by Hedonisco: 8:29am On Jan 08 |
RISQUE:Stop taking nonsense. This primitive kind of reasoning is similar to how Nigerian police people reason, and I wouldn't be surprised if you are one or maybe the son of one. What is the criminal culpability in being a passenger? Which law exactly did he break as a passenger? Some of you people can be so annoying. |
| Re: Why Is Anthony Joshua's Driver Being Prosecuted? by naptu2: 8:30am On Jan 08 |
There is no law that mandates you to caution a driver. If you insist that there is, cite it and cite the penalties. My God! RISQUE: |

naptu2:I don't engage with people like you. I know your history very well. |
| Re: Why Is Anthony Joshua's Driver Being Prosecuted? by RISQUE: 9:52am On Jan 08 |
Hedonisco:Lolz. Look who calls someone primitive. It's actually very funny. You guys can actually mention laws but when such laws catch up with you, you deviate from the subject matter. |
| Re: Why Is Anthony Joshua's Driver Being Prosecuted? by naptu2: 10:08am On Jan 08 |
Risque has no answer and cannot cite any law, so he runs away. How can they ask that Anthony Joshua should be prosecuted when he didn't break any law?? |
