Murphy Osaro Omoruyi Defects to ADC

The member representing Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon. Murphy Osaro Omoruyi, has defected to the African Democratic Congress, ADC.

Addressing journalists in Benin City, the lawmaker declared that his decision to become a member of the ADC coalition was followed his resignation from the Labour Party.

My joining the ADC coalition today is sequel to my resignation from the Labour Party in a letter to my ward chairman, Ward 10, Egor Local Government Area, on the 30th of December, 2025, which has since been accepted,” he stated.

While noting that he has remained a loyal and committed member of the Labour Party, the lawmaker stated that it has been practically impossible for him to remain in the LP due to the intractable crisis rocking the party.

Hon. Omoruyi pledged his commitment to work with leaders of ADC, coalition partners, and other stakeholders to advance the cause of good governance and effective representation.

He reaffirmed his unwavering support for his constituents, noting that their trust remains his guiding principle.

Hon. Omoruyi added that his defection is taken to better serve their interests and secure a brighter future for them.

It is really tough to follow a visionless, directionless and hopeless leader like Peter obi in the words of Kenneth okonkwo. No wonder Abia governor Dr Alex otti refused to follow him to ADC, because as it is now if ADC refuse to give obi the presidential ticket, under the pressure of is ethnocentric and tribalistic followers he is likely to dump ADC and move to another party. Now those who followed him to ADC will have to move again

When politicians defect to other parties, it's a welcome development but, once they defect to the APC, Tinubu is trying to make Nigeria a one-party state.

It is good to say the truth than being biased with one party over the other. Firstly, many politicians ported to APC from other parties, even from same LP when Obi was still a member. Can we conclude that Tinubu has more followership than Obi, using your logic? Secondly, ADC was already stacked with people the moment Atiku and others created oe moved there. 3rdly, every politician including Obi is just looking for ways to win. If dem born Obi well and he's sure of his followership, why not join another party that has no Atiku, Amaechi, El-Rufai and other APC/PDP disgruntled elements? Obi only have the 95% of 500k of ibo tribal votes. This is not the Era when religious sentiment was used.

The usual suspects won’t have a problem with this defection, they won’t call him a political prostitute, and won’t call for him to lose his seat
