It’s a bond, are some of the previous posters intentionally being mischievous. I believe that this is a good initiative, because the arbitrary denials based off ‘insufficient ties back home’ will reduce and only those with genuine intentions to return will place the bond. We are so twisted that we are offended with the US for not allowing us violate our visa agreement. What kind of country is this? Pay the bond, visit family and friends and collect it upon return. |

Africans should stop running away from reality, they should stand and demand good leadership. Start a revolution to free African nations. |

Baxilexi:Story. Documented migrants are being detained, thrown in cells and some tortured. In Minnesota today, ICE shot and killed a citizen. You're here making excuses for Trunp. Can you afford the bond yourself? |

Flangelo12:Some countries like Mali, I believe have had this bond placements for some months now and returnees had their monies refunded. |

Flangelo12:Since you asked yes I can, and I have no plans to overstay my stay in the US. I don’t believe in illegal migration. It’s better to marry a geriatric than migrate illegally with no peace of mind. |

Baxilexi:You can afford it, congrats. There are many who have reasons to get to US and have no plans of overstaying. Yet they cannot afford such a bond. You don't care about them, do you? |

It’s within their rights, but sooner than later they would learn that the world is a global village. They’d need to pay for cloud services, payment system services like Mastercard, visa, mainframe, tech, medications, equipment etc and their foreign reserves will suffer because their Asian partners wouldn’t pay the western rate for their resources. Traore is a good guy but a fool at the same time, history is replete with men like him that ended up digging themselves into a hole. Ask Khamenei of Iran. |

Flangelo12:The thing about bylaws like this is, they fall under what psychologists call operant conditioning, it will modify the behavior of travelers. If the persons family or friends raise 5k$ to bring him/her over of course they’ll be on their relatives neck to respect the visa terms and return as and of when due. I’m speculating here but I believe, after 2 or 3 travels without a breech in agreement there might be a pass for the bond. |
| Re: US Introduces $15,000 Visa Bond For Nigerians, by Flangelo12: 9:42pm On Jan 07 |
Baxilexi:It would reduce travel by Nigerians to the US which is the main purpose. Imagine working for a company that wants to take you to US, are they going to pay a 15k bond on your behalf? Quite unlikely. |
| Re: US Introduces $15,000 Visa Bond For Nigerians, by Baxilexi(m): 9:45pm On Jan 07 |
Flangelo12:Friend, before the end of this week, banks will begin to offer this security, with collateral and interest. And apply a rental, if you’d like you can set up the business, rent the bond to travelers for a weekly rate of 50 dollars. That way the bond is between your financial firm and the US embassy. The bank or firm standing in as a guarantor. We can respond to this wisely. |

Baxilexi:I thought about that. But it is risky. The cost of the loan isn't worth it. |

Flangelo12:Now you have calm down, your business brain lobe is active. It wouldn’t be, just provide a collateral-car, house document, land. And pay 50-100$ per week to rent the bond. |

Flangelo12:Just the way you are unaccomplished right? Anybody that wants to leave can leave as long as it is done legally and the laws of the country they are fleeing to allows it. If I check properly people like you have gone to several embassies and got rejected, you people are the one praying that people should be deported because you are jealous. |
| Re: US Introduces $15,000 Visa Bond For Nigerians, by Baxilexi(m): 9:52pm On Jan 07 |
Flangelo12:If you set it up, I will invest. Lawyers would look into the terms with the US embassy(they’ll freeze the money in a Nigerian bank and only when the duration of the visa is expired will it be transferred to the US embassy in Nigeria’s account, in case of death or sickness it wouldn’t apply.)and collateral documents too. Imagine making 100$ per week for renting 5k$ |

Generally speaking... Nigeria needs to correct her image within and outside. And unfortunately i dont see the possibility of that with this amalgamation. You cant eat ur cake and have it. However the US policy is non-biased. You cant have a compound with fruits and allow just any passerby & touts come in to pluck..think of the consequence. If u put a fee - majority of entries would be responsible people |

Bond or no bond, most Nigerians are not thinking of going to the US even in the next 10 yrs but we all need good security in Nigeria to survive and live better. Like it or not, the bond is for a time but once security is sustained, u won't need to go to America |
| Re: US Introduces $15,000 Visa Bond For Nigerians, by xristos(m): 10:00pm On Jan 07 |
Baxilexi:Kinda reasonable...but i thought the bond must be paid into US before visa issuance..after interview. It must be available handy before application. Then the bond refunded only if the holder returns before expiry or other legit conditions. Any violation forfeits the money. So for the loan..the pressure is on the 3rd party lender to follow up with borrower.(If necessary) |
