Nigerians will make AA Rano regret bringing this innovative initiative that has existed in advance countries to Nigeria. They will device a way to bypass the system and cheat the business.

HOW is this imported innovation a great thing for a country with high unemployment rate?

HOW is this a great thing when Tinubu and APC have failed to crash petrol price below January 2023 level as they promised huh
How in the world did you read the post and concluded this is an imported innovation? PetroSoft is 100% an indigenous company.

Good way to go, but people will be out of job. Nothing without it's disadvantages.
Better they go out of job, when they have the job what did they do with it? Than stealing from helpless Nigerians by manipulating the pumps ⛽

Guy didn't you know how much you wanted to buy. Una own na to give developers problems
Firstcitizen:
The UK uses an outdated system. You should be able to select the amount of fuel to purchase, make payment and dispense and if the tank gets full before it gets to that amount, you stop and press refund excess and the system recalculates and refunds to your card.

Less need for ANPR cameras reading your plates or attendants watching cctv. No need to chase anyone.

How will they steal? You select how many litres you want to buy, pay first, machine will give you green light and stop at the exact amount you purchase.

With this model, Dangote will further reduce Petrol price if he removes the costs related to Petrol pump attendants. The only danger is that many households will be further thrown to more poverty due to loss of jobs when Petrol pump attendants jobs are eliminated by technology.

I am sure it will not be like UK own that you will dispense petrol first before paying.
.... The UK approach where you dispense first then pay afterwards is only possible because of ANPR (Automatic number plate recognition) technology. Once you enter the petrol station your plate number is recorded on the garage CCTV, and if you leave without paying this information is passed on to the police and classified as theft, a statutory offence of making off without payment.

I dey pity una

Criminal minded Nigerians will buy all the petrol there without paying una eye go clear
.....Oga it is not possible, the machine checks your atm card to ensure you have enough money to cover your fuel cost, and it will only dispense to a limited amount. In the UK you insert your atm card into a pad and also punch in your pin number, and the machine indicates that it can dispense to a maximum of £100, which also means you have a minimum of £100 in your account.

Use ya brain and prepare for all use cases. Not to go around doing chochocho.

For example, a driver seeing his fuel gauge showing half tank can input e.g 80k amount only to discover the tank is full after dispensing 70k. The extra 10k goes where? Your pocket abi.

E get why God give pipo brain. Use am.

Isn't that corporate greed?
.... you can set up your own business and employ as much people from your village even if half of them will be surplus to the business, there's time for charity and time for business.

Who tells you that. Asda has such stations in U.K. You pay with card first and then dispense. That is how it works with unmanned stations.
....Yes, but in ASDA, it checks your card to ensure you have a minimum of £100 in your account before dispensing.

It's how many years since pipe borne water became operational in Europe while we are still drinking detty water from boreholes in the same compound with soak away pits and septic tanks huh

It's understandable that extreme poverty paupers with misplaced priorities will forever birth children to slave for Asians and oyinbos for further development gap between our races, not so?
Worst is that APC government at all levels no longer talk or budget for provision of pipe borne water to Nigerians. APC government operatives believe it's right for families to sink private water boreholes sharing same location with septic tanks.
Septic tank? More than 40 years ago, Europe stopped use of Septic tanks in compounds, and introduced sewerage system.

APC is a political party led by people like late Muhammadu Buhari who are rather still struggling for a country to be governed with Sharia criminal laws, not interested in modernity

- maintained and
- updated

Well paid in comparison with political office holders.

Isn't that corporate greed?
It isn't really as much corporate greed as it is national misplaced priority to import expensive automated systems instead of employing people to do the job, while educating them to create such systems locally.

In developed and advanced countries
When the government introduce ideas
That takes jobs away from the citizens

The also introduce leverages, aids and different type of subsidies
To help reduce suffering of the people

But in Nigeria
We are left to survive anyhow
And you surprise whey crime is always on a rise

Yes, I will expect this one to have such safety nets too. It’s a learning process. Previously, I used to buy petrol on credit with a low balance in my card. Then when money comes into account it is deducted. But, it seems some people never get to pay back through their accounts, that’s why ASDA changed that to minimum of £100 in account.

Most unmanned UK petrol pump system also does not allow you to first dispense petrol. Your card is debited first before the pump starts dispensing

I feel sorry for the jobs that would be taken.
This will definitely work. The tech would most likely operate on a point of Sale framework. Pay for fuel before dispensing..
