https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7rTC28NmaE?si=m5qxR87d8oGf8T0d ‘Fubara Is a Threat to Democracy’ — Speaker Amaewhule Barks During Impeachment Proceedings Rivers State House of Assembly initiated formal impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu on Thursday, January 8, 2026, intensifying the state's political crisis. In a plenary session chaired by Speaker Martins Amaewhule, Majority Leader Major Jack tabled a notice of gross misconduct against Fubara, supported by 26 lawmakers. The allegations, under Section 188 of the 1999 Constitution, cite financial recklessness and legislative obstruction—including failure to submit budget documents, unauthorized expenditures, diversion of House and Service Commission funds, demolition of the Assembly complex, and disregard for financial autonomy court orders. Siminalayi Fubara and Ngozi Odu are nothing but a threat to our nascent democracy. If they are allowed to remain in office, I do not know what will become of our democracy. They are moving about from place to place, spending taxpayers’ money without approval. Governor Fubara is a mistake. Rivers State has never had it this bad.Rivers Assembly Speaker, Martins Amaewhule

Seconded Fubara is a green snake under the green grass Modified: This is good news. You don't fight the finger that made you. Wike made Fubara despite the fact that his(Fubara) name still appears on EFCC's wanted list till today. When someone in politics brings you to power, it's an honourable thing for you to be extremely loyal for future prospects. |

1. In the beginning, I thought Fubara is wise but I was wrong..... 2. He thought his trouble will be over by decamping to APC but alas, it just started. 3. He turned his back to his parent (PDP) by lashing out to them, now, he is fighting with a Wi(c)ke(d) man. If the impeachment succeed, he is completely finished... |

I no understand, are they trying to impeach gov and deputy, I thought the deputy can't be punished for the offence of the principal, therefore the two must be separated during impeachment process |

Wike will overplay his hand here Fubara will not be impeached. If they impeach him successfully this will become a problem for APC in 2027. |

Men who doesn't have a mind of their own. How are they even representing their constituencies with all these errands they're running for Wike? The people of Rivers should have seen that these men doesn't have their interests at heart and must therefore retire all of them in the next election. You're not elected to defend Wike's political interests. |

COMRADES, Amehule the real boy boy in history of Rivers State. Immunity has covered Fubara now because Tinubu will not allow this crisis to escalate to that level or to destabilise the apc family in Rivers State |

Has its going... they should just leave wike and the governor in one room to settle thier self. It's becoming irritating about wike. God fatherism is not by destruction. He has lot of enemies that want his down fall and I suspect his tinubu wins second term he will throw wike under d bus by giving him minister for gutter. |
| Re: Impeachment: Governor Fubara, his Deputy are threats To Democracy - Amaewhule by Eriokanmi: 2:07pm On Jan 08 |
Racoon:Their full cup is imminent. Once tinubu steps in as the commander-in-chief, all of them including wike will be done with in terms of rivers politics. I wonder why he's giving wike so much power, someone who holds no elected position, same of the same. He's still relevant because of the ministerial office he's occupying. Once he's relieved of that position, he becomes an ordinary man on the street and irrelevant forever. |
