RIVERS APC REJECTS IMPEACHMENT PROCESS AGAINST GOV SIM FUBARA

The attention of the leadership of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State has been drawn the latest unfortunate developments coming out from the chambers of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

We concede that the legislature is an independent arm in the tripod of governance, and the constitutional responsibilities of checks and balances are within their democratic purview.

Our position as at today on this matter is that, we solemnly reject the resort to an impeachment process against our Governor and his deputy.

It will be totally untenable for our party to keep quiet when an obvious hangover from strifes that occurred within the PDP are allowed to resurface in our great party.

It is important to say to Rivers people and Nigerians that since the latest threat of impeachment centers on the budget, may we remind ourselves that under the period of emergency rule, a budget was transmitted to the National Assembly by the President and Commander-in-Chief in May 2025 which was approved by the Senate on 25 June 2025 and subsequently by the House of Representatives on July 22 2025 for a total sum of #1.485 trillion.

Interestingly, this budget is for one year and should run uptil August 2026 and if the Governor is comfortable with the composition of the said budget, he may elect not to present any supplementary budget. Besides, the constitution allows for a six-months spending window into the new fiscal year by a state governor.

We therefore strongly advise all members of the Rivers State House of Assembly especially APC members, to resist pressures from outside the Assembly chambers to destablize the Government of Rivers state ably led by His Excellency Sir Sir Siminalayi Fubara.

*Let it be known that our party will do everything possible to ensure that the Government of Rivers State, which is an APC government, is not destabilized through fratricidal disagreements.*

We therefore call on members of the State Assembly especially APC members, to immediately discontinue the impeachment process inorder not to drag the image of our great party to the mud and stiffle the continuous progress and development of Rivers State.

Let our state remain a democracy and not a politicocracy!!!

Amaewhule made the statement on Thursday, insisting that the problem in Rivers State is not between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Governor Fubara, but between the governor and the constitution itself.
Addressing the Assembly in a fiery speech, the Speaker said it would be better for lawmakers to step down than allow Fubara to defraud the people of Rivers State.
His remarks come shortly after the Rivers State House of Assembly formally commenced impeachment proceedings against Governor Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Oduh, following allegations of gross constitutional violations. The process was initiated on Thursday during a plenary session, with 26 lawmakers endorsing the impeachment notice.

How one man pocket PDP and still Pocket the whole state like river state is something I can't explain to my future children 🤗🤷

This wike is just too troublesome. Nobody can work with someone with this overbearing attitude. You made fubara governor, yes! Patience Jonathan also made you a governor. And I can't even remember the woman meddling in your affairs when you were the governor.

Tinubu should better resolve this wike issue because many party members are not happy. People just choose to keep quiet because of the respect they have for the president.

Rivers APC Rejects Impeachment Move Against Governor Fubara

The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected moves by the Rivers State House of Assembly to initiate impeachment proceedings against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, warning that such action could destabilise the State.

The party’s leadership in a statement said it had taken note of “unfortunate developments” emerging from the House of Assembly, stressing that while the legislature remains an independent arm of government with constitutional powers of oversight, the resort to impeachment was unacceptable.

The APC said it could not remain silent while what it described as unresolved internal crises from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were allowed to spill over and threaten the stability of an APC-led government in Rivers State.

According to the party, the impeachment threat appears to be linked to budgetary issues, which it argued do not justify such extreme legislative action.

The party recalled that during the period of emergency rule, a budget was transmitted to the National Assembly by the President in May 2025 and subsequently approved by the Senate on June 25, 2025, and by the House of Representatives on July 22, 2025, with a total allocation of ₦1.485 trillion.


It noted that the budget was designed to run for one year, until August 2026, adding that the governor is not constitutionally compelled to present a supplementary budget if he is satisfied with the existing appropriation.

The APC further pointed out that the Constitution permits a governor to continue spending for up to six months into a new fiscal year.

The Rivers APC therefore urged members of the State House of Assembly, particularly those elected on the party’s platform, to resist what it described as external pressure aimed at destabilising the government.

“We will do everything possible to ensure that the APC-led government of Rivers State is not undermined through internal disagreements,” the statement said.

The party called on lawmakers to immediately discontinue the impeachment process, warning that it could damage the image of the APC and derail ongoing development efforts in the state.


The APC concluded by urging political actors to uphold democratic principles and allow governance to prevail, rather than allowing political rivalries to disrupt stability in Rivers State.

The bondage the Rivers State governor is trying to free himself from is what is holding the house members hostages. Their hands are tied with strong ropes designed by emperor Wike. The house members desire to be free but they are helpless because Wike singlehandedly picked them with a bid to do dirty jobs for him when there is need for such service. Now is the time and they are hellbent on removing the governor based on baseless petty allegations of financial recklessness.
Only the Rivers people can save both the governor and the Rivers Assemblies members by way of vehemently resisting Wike and putting him in the dustbin of history where he should belong. Enough is enough. Enough of godfatherism in Nigeria.

This APC appears to be acting more matured than PDP in this Rivers state matter o. This was exactly what PDP failed to do for Fubara.

The Supreme Court regarding Fubara:

“A government cannot be said to exist without one of the three arms of government,” the ruling read. “Here, the Head of the Executive has chosen to collapse the Legislature so he can rule without it—as a despot. As it stands, there is no government in Rivers State.”
