Rivers APC State Assembly Forum backs Fubara, passes confidence vote on party NWC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) States Assembly Forum (ASAF), has thrown its weight behind the National Working Committee (NWC) declaration of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, as the leader of the party in the state following his recent defection from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling APC.
The states Assembly Forum comprises of all elected and serving members.

Gov Fubara’s defection has fuelled controversy with the former governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, accusing him of flouting an agreement reportedly reached and signed in the presence of President Bola Tinubu, prior to the lifting of his suspension that followed the earlier six-month emergency rule in the state.

At the weekend, Wike came under attack from the APC NWC, which insisted that the governor, like in other states is the leader of the party in his state. The NWC also maintained that the FCT minister is not a member of the APC and therefore cannot meddle in the affairs of the party from outside.

The matter, however, escalated when Wike threatened the APC National Secretary, Ajibola Bashiru, over his condemnation of the position of the party’s National Vice Chairman (South-South), Victor Giadom, who stated that Governor Fubara cannot be recognised as the APC leader in Rivers State. Giadom also argued that the governor cannot seek re-election on the APC platform without the support of the FCT minister.

Declaring its support for the Rivers State governor, ASAF, in a statement issued from kaduna on Wednesday, noted that the APC has well-structured rules that clearly define the party’s leadership structure.

In the statement signed by its Director-General, Ambassador Fubara Dagogo, the forum also passed a vote of confidence on the party’s NWC, led by Professor Nentawe Yilwatda. It described the statements by the National Chairman and National Secretary, Ajibola Bashiru, as explicit and consistent with the provisions of the APC constitution.

“Our great party is well structured and has a clear constitution that sets out the party’s leadership structure. So, there is no need for any dispute over the leadership of the APC in Rivers State. Our NWC has addressed that, and we in ASAF believe that Governor Siminalayi Fubara is on the right track as the uncontested leader of our party in his state,” the statement said.

ASAF therefore urged both Governor Fubara and the APC NWC to remain focused and to shrug off what it described as attempts by non-party members to cause division within the Rivers APC and the national leadership. It added that the governor should sustain his current performance, which it said has earned him the support of the people of Rivers State.

The forum further cautioned non-APC members to refrain from delving into the ruling party’s internal affairs. It also warned its members in various states to be cautious of the activities of non-APC members who, it alleged, may attempt to infiltrate the party to destabilise it and cause confusion, as they did in opposition parties ahead of the 2027 elections.

“We urge our members to be vigilant because there is envy from members of the disorganised opposition parties who may try hard to infiltrate the APC and cause confusion aimed at destroying our unity, under the pretext of supporting President Bola Tinubu’s re-election project in 2027.

“We also warn that non-APC members should stay clear of our party. We have observed that they are not happy with the unity in the APC, which has led to a myriad of opposition defections. They may have mobilised to instigate division and cause confusion in our party ahead of the 2027 elections, while pretending to support the re-election of our president.

“Our joy, however, is that the APC is a party built on a very strong foundation, with the solid commitment of the current NWC and stakeholders, and cannot be infiltrated to create crisis and destruction as they did in their own parties,” the statement added.

How many APC members are in the Rivers State House of Assembly? How many of them are on the side of the governor? Do they have the numbers (22 members) on the Wike side to impeach the governor?

He still has 26 RHA members, all the LG chairmen, 2 out of the 3 RS senators and almost the entire 6 Federal house of reps members loyal to him. Not to talk of Rivers influential political bigwigs and millions of loyal Rivers youths. So tell me, is that the kinda man a political strategists like PBAT would want to throw away to embrace a clueless, politically irrelevant, backstabbing SOB Fubara ⁉️

You guys should reason like adults FFS 🤦🏿‍♂️

DON'T WORRY WHEN HE IS LET OFF HIS POST WE WILL SEE HOW LOYAL AND RELEVANT HE IS, AT BEST HE CAN RESIGN AND FOCUS ON RIVERS .

Obidents and haters of PBAT and Wike, na una do dis 1 😁😀😄😅😂🤣 anyone you guys support is always Doomed and those Una hate, insult and curse always prosper and achieve even more success and acknowledgement.

You guys are too emotional and don't think things through, always rushing to spew shit you know nothing about and always demonizing those who resist you guys warped narratives.

Una don push Fubara to his political Doom with lies and propaganda that he should be disloyal to his godfather. If you guys even use your brains a little you would know that now isn't the time for him to go against his predecessor but as always emotions be clouds una reasoning and he's now going to loose badly.

The same Obidents who went feral and attacked PBAT relentlessly for saving Fubara by issuing the SOE are the same silly folks now calling the same PBAT to come and save him again, no be juju be that 😁😀😄😅😂🤣

You guys should start analyzing and thinking things through before you initiate it, Don't start what you can't finish and pick your battles wisely.

Re: Rivers APC State Assembly Forum Backs Fubara by LottiOk: 6:26pm On Jan 08
When I say you guys are too emotional and don't think critically or logically it's not an insult but a fact cos how can you think that PBAT can risk having issues with Wike now before '27 elections have been concluded. He can't throw away a political gem like Wike with so much influence and political weight in Rivers, for a useless PoS like Fubara who doesn't have any political relevance even in his kindred.

Instead of you guys to advice Sim to play along till he wins his re-election before he goes to war with Wike, you guys keep misleading him to bite the hand that made him and you think that's wisdom⁉️

Keep dreaming of wike's downfall while he keeps impressing his principal PBAT with the transformative works he's doing in FCT. In the end you'll still blame PBAT for not saving Fubara "again" from Wike.

Your Uncle Oga Wike does not have Political maturity, he has used Oga Fubara to the extent the young man became a VIP prisoner at the Rivers State Government House ,now he has immunity he still want to hold him behind bars as a VVIP Prisoner .The issue here has nothing to do with PBAT, Mr President is so powerful he can make an irrelevant man relevant and a relevant man irrelevant , but he's trying to stay mature.

Wike is going mad. This may be his end.

The chessboard is different now than 2023.

Tinubu was not president then, Fubara wasn't governor and wike was incumbent governor.

If Tinubu cook corruption case for him today, suspend him, buy all his loyalists, heaven will not fall.

The truth is if wike were to be either incumbent president or governor today, he can't tolerate what he's dishing out to others... His strategy is not how Tinubu will win 2027, but he wants to be the one Tinubu will negotiate with, not Fubara.

A sitting president plus a sitting rivers Governor will beat a Wike, they will prevail over him at the end. He doesn't have same leverage he had with the PDP 5 governors in 2023 again now
