If this protest was happening in Nigeria, they would have tribalized it. But since the majority in Iran are Muslims and they all speak one language, they can easily assemble together and speak with one voice against bad governance.

That’s why it’s near impossible to have a pan Nigerian mass protest. And that’s the only reason Buhari escaped being chased out of office for gross incompetence; and same reason Tinubu is still occupying an office he neither won nor capable of leading. Nigeria has a long way to go.

I am going to say, probably not.

In more detail, the idea is that the Supreme leader is not going to go gently into the night...we have been here before three years ago with the women, life, protest, which fizzled out. My guess is the leadership is going to sit this one out, and watch and see.

Even then, the very low oil prices (Iran needs oil at 125 dollars per barrel to have a budget that makes sense....and the low oil prices are putting a strain on the budget), plus geopolitical issues (they had their international arms cut off by Israel, and as much as they want to pretend nothing happened, it is clear the attacks last year, followed by the bombing, shook them up bad)...may still change things.

But what replaces the dragon? IN 1979, the same question was asked, and it ended not with a secular government as some were hoping for. Iran is a muslim majority country, and what replaces the dragon is not going to be a friendly government to the US hegemon.

At best, probably the Ayatollah is retired and replaced with a council that would negotiate their way out with the protest movement.

The Shah is not coming back by the way. That's in the past.

Please, listen to Iranians themselves - they do not agree that majority of Iranians are muslims. They are Persians and less than 25% are actually muslims. I didn't say it, they did.
