Martins Amaewhule, Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, has warned that lawmakers are ready to resign if Governor Siminalayi Fubara is not removed from office, describing the governor as a threat to democracy.
Amaewhule made the statement on Thursday, insisting that the problem in Rivers State is not between FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Governor Fubara, but between the governor and the constitution itself.
Addressing the Assembly in a fiery speech, the Speaker said it would be better for lawmakers to step down than allow Fubara to defraud the people of Rivers State.
His remarks come shortly after the Rivers State House of Assembly formally commenced impeachment proceedings against Governor Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Oduh, following allegations of gross constitutional violations. The process was initiated on Thursday during a plenary session, with 26 lawmakers endorsing the impeachment notice.

Well, in case of Fubara, even Wike confessed that he had no interest in becoming gov that's why he picked him so your claim about going to the godfather is baseless

Fubara is not the one fighting. He's only fighting back when pushed to the wall. In this present situation for example, he already left Wike alone in PDP and joined the president's party only for Wike to turn that one to issue again. Truth is you can hardly satisfy these godfathers. There's no godfather who has never clashed with his godson. They have all had serious issues with them.

Even at that, APC is not the only party in Rivers State. They don’t represent people of Rivers State.

Law makers representing people of rivers are the one initiating this impeachment.

I can't but smile when he made a comment that caused Akpabio to tell him that early time to.resign if there's no money there and people say Akpabio insulted him.

It's obvious you don't even have any idea what happened in the state but just regurgitating Wike supporters' talking points

Godfathers don't even go about looking for ambitious people to support. They always support people they view as politically naive and disinterested cause they believe those are easy to manipulate and coerce towards certain things. Why did Wike leave the likes of Chidi Lloyd who is a political operator to pick a civil servant like Fubara who had shown no interest in politics? When their plan fails, they begin to blame the godson for not playing his part by continuing to be a mumu.

The house members should face their duty which includes loyalty to the state and not one person instead. That's why the godfathers usually pick a politically ambitious person to be speaker who can easily be swayed to see opportunities in fighting the gov when asked to by the godfather

This was what Dr Chris Ngige suffered in Anambra State then , where state properties were burnt down and Police or Army could not arrest those that burnt it on a day light hour ...all to make his Government worst for him, he was even kidnapped as well and forced to sign his impeachment letter in the hotel where they kept a whole Governor of a State...

But am happy there is nothing like god father whatever in Anambra State now, and you can see how the State is recording great achievements and transparency...

With or without godfather, a State can getting meaningful development and achievements of the State governor knows what he is doing.

Many Nigerian State governors lack knowledge of creating wealth. If you without FACC from many States in Nigeria for three months then you'll know that many governors have nothing in their heads irrespective of their credentials.
