It's just like your child came third in a class of 60 and the teacher said her result is the worst. No Be Juju Be Dat? |

ahmedio2017:$4 is still very expensive considering the minimum wage of Nigeria compared to these countries... imagine using over 8.3% of your minimum wage to buy just 1 kg of chicken, it then means ordinary chicken is considered as luxury for minimum wage earners, can you say same for minimum wage earners of these countries been compared with? Sometimes is not just bee quick to dismiss a data, think critically before you do so, the essence of this wasn't just to brag whose chicken was the highest but to compare whose minimum wage could purchase the prices of the chicken listed. If you had seen this you won't just run to dismiss the prices because even at your price calculation the Nigerian situation is the worst of them all considering the minimum wage purchasing power. |

Edplug:Even though your data is inaccurate, do you want Nigerian government to subsidize the cost of chicken like the US and others too? The US doesn't subsidize electricity o ![]()

| Re: Cost Of 1kg Chicken In Nigeria Vs Other Countries by yemmit90: 6:01pm On Jan 09 |
richiemcgold:Still very cheap, cheaper than beaf , goat meat and fishes. A kilo of fresh farm chicken is 5k on retail price, no matter the location, it should not be more than 6k base on the current wholesale price.(4200-4500). The poster don't eat chicken, hence he would not have posted this unverified statistics. |

You guys should ask your brothers and sisters in America why they are ordering food stuffs from Nigeria even with Trump Tariff, if it is more expensive in Nigeria. You guys are comparing the cost of chicken in Nigeria with that of America ignoring quality. I am not saying things are not expensive in Nigeria. The comparison is what I question. Food is far cheaper in Nigeria. The chicken you are quoting the price are low quality. it is not comparable to what is obtainable in Nigeria. Nigerians that are lower middle class and up don't eat those chicken. I can speaks to it because I often meet many Nigerians at the farm buying live fish, chicken, cattle etc. You go to the farm not for the cheap price but for the quality that is same as you get in Nigeria. |

Given the minimum wage in Nigeria, even $4/kg is danm too expensive and beyond the reach of majority of Nigerians. |
| Re: Cost Of 1kg Chicken In Nigeria Vs Other Countries by HacheNoire: 6:04pm On Jan 09 |
Edplug:Now factor in quality! US chickens are raised for just two months and tasteless. They are drugged with hormones for fast growth. |

I don't even get why food remains so expensive in a nation where the minimum wage is practically among the lowest on Earth...! Seems average Nigerians are destined to suffer for life. |
