Yea, they may have not won afcon, but i can recall hearing the media chanting their names then(years back). Don't forget keita who played for Barcelona is from Mali.

E nor mean say you must win the trophy na. Atleast dem dey reach somewhere, plus they have highlights.

They are a force in the world and africa for youth football(under 21, 20, 19).
Just like Arsenal that can never win the UCL but right now they are a force in the UCL cheesy grin

Lol.

I will prefer not to use only UCL to rate a club or country(asin using only one league). They are many leagues(club league, F.A cup, copalaliga, coppaitala, ucl, club-worldcup, nations league, worldcup, confredation, euros, afcon, africa nation league, Wafu, etc).

Because arsenal hasn't got a trophy in ucl doesn't mean they don't matter in the world.

They have F.A trophy, carling cup, league trophy. Don't forget arsenal made Epl to start qualifying for 6slots in the Ucl.
Also arsenal has many great players who have shown great value in the world.

To me, arsenal is a great club.
And i really appreciate your comment.

It appears these Mali Team play better when they're one man down. They've had 3 red cards so far in this AFCON. They've also been on the attack to level since this 2nd half. IF they equalize...I see them going through as usual grin

Nigeria needs that Mali goalkeeper. If Nigeria SE were disadvantaged like Mali, it would have been basket of goals.

West African derby and Senegal does share borders with Mali so in some sense, it's a derby.

It's only UCL, Europa, Conference, Intercontinental cup and Club World Cup that are not domestic cups. Others like FA, Carling and even EPL are domestic.

How did Arsenal make EPL to start qualifying for six slots? grin Tottenham, Chelsea and Man Utd actually fetched more points in Europe than Arsenal last season, meaning that they each contributed more than Arsenal to the six clubs qualifying from the EPL last season. Go and verify.

No, you are the one wrong here.

After arsenal deleted Madrid from the Ucl last season, they created additional two more slot for the epl.
They created a record with that victory they held over madrid, plus i think they did something extraordinary in Ucl during last season.

Just research or read it up with unique keywords on Google, you will see what am telling you.

What an irony...that Mali goal keeper made one mistake even though his defenders were huddled around when the Senegalese poked home to score, I still think he did alot to keep Mali in the game having gone a man down....God abeg can we exchange nwabali for this goal keeper...CAF abeg make uns approve 🙄 grin

No, you are the one wrong, because you didn't understand what happened as at then fully. I remembered the thread here on nairaland and myself and some others tried our best to explain to those who didn't get it right.

Now I will do my best to explain again. Each win that any team in any association gets is 2 pts and a draw is 1 point. Now all the associations are placed in a kind of table. England was constantly on top because of the good points they were getting from all the English representatives like Chelsea in the Conference league, Man Utd and Totrenham in the Europa league , Liverpool, Arsenal, Aston Villa and City in the UCl.

For a long time England was on top of the table because all the English teams won many games. The highest contributor was Man Utd with almost 100% contribution. Then followed by Chelsea with almost 100% record too. Tottenham should come third, then maybe Arsenal, Liverpool, then Aston Villa. Why, because of the number of wins they got in their respective European tournaments they played in.

So England was gapping Spain and Germany with the amount of points acquired. Let's say England has 56pts and then Spain has 48pts followed by Italy with 39pts and Germany with maybe 38pts. Then their are still few games left for them to play. Then coincidentally it was Arsenal's turn to play Madrid and a win will add another 2 points to England such that they cannot go below top 2 again. That's what happened. When Arsenal won, it sealed it.

Now if Arsenal had lost, then the next match next day was a Chelsea match in the UEL. So Chelsea won and it would have still given us the 2 points needed more. Now if Chelsea had also lost, then we have to wait for both Totrenham and Man Utd to finish their Semi finals. Fortunately they also won. That's extra 4 points. Meaning that even if Arsenal and Che have lost, Man Utd and Tottenham would still have brought the points.

Then after that, Chelsea won 4 more points, that's in the Semi final and final. Tottenham also won 4 more points, Semi final and final. Man Utd also won 4 more points, The Semi finals against Bilbao.

So what I was saying is that if Arsenal hadn't won that day, then the next day, Chelsea, Tot and Man Utd would still have brought about that news you saw that day because they all won. Then even if they had all lost. Then in their Semi final matches which Chelsea won one, Man Utd won 2 and Tottenham won 1 they would still have brought about that news.

Wow. I never knew about this explanation. So this was what actually happened? Okay. I appreciate.

I will go research to know more about it.

Brilliant write-up from you.

Kudos.

I appreciate.
