Kelzlez:How is his mental health? Why did he allow this to get this bad? Is he not in pain? ๐ค๐ค๐ค My suggestion is that you take him straight to the hospital so a doctor can better diagnose him and possibly find out any other issues may have been keeping to himself. In the year 2026, going to hospital as soon as one detects an issue should have become normalized by adults. ๐ค๐ค |

Kelzlez:Pray? Look into it? You don't want to take your grandfather immediately to the hospital, why? You want it to be less serious so he can continue walking around with inflamed ear and tissue because? ๐ค๐ค |

| Re: Please Help. What's This On My Grand Father's Ear by Kobojunkie: 6:49pm On Jan 09 |
Kelzlez:You bought medications without, in fact, knowing or having an actual diagnosis explaining what is wrong with him? ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ฎ |

Kelzlez:What did the medical practitioner tell you caused the inflammation in his ear? What was the diagnosis? Please explain what you were told to us. Search Google for more information to help you understand what you were told, if needed. ๐ฅฑ๐ฅฑ๐ฅฑ |

OP this is what chatGPT told me about the picture you posted: ๐ Iโm not a doctor, but I can share some likely possibilities based on how this looks and the fact that heโs elderly. A proper diagnosis would require a clinician to examine him. Possible causes of this ear swelling: 1. Chondrodermatitis nodularis helicis (CNH) - Common in elderly men - A painful, firm swelling on the ear cartilage - Often caused by long-term pressure, such as sleeping on one side for years - Blood supply to ear cartilage reduces with age, making it vulnerable 2. Sebaceous (epidermoid) cyst - A blocked oil gland under the skin - Can cause a smooth, rounded swelling - Usually painless unless infected 3. Ear cartilage infection (perichondritis) -Causes swelling, warmth, and sometimes pain - May follow minor trauma, scratching, or insect bites - Needs medical treatment because cartilage infections can worsen 4. Keloid or hypertrophic scar - More common in people with darker skin - Usually follows piercing or previous injury - Firm and slowly enlarging 5. Gouty tophus (less common, but possible in elderly men) - Uric acid deposits can form nodules on the ear - Often associated with a history of gout When to seek medical care urgently: - If the swelling is painful, red, warm, or discharging - If it is growing rapidly - If there is fever or hearing changes What a doctor may do - Physical examination - Possibly ultrasound or biopsy if unclear - Treatment may include pressure relief, medications, drainage, or minor surgery depending on cause |

What does he have to lose, really? Isn't he old enough for transitioning? |

He's around 80 years... maybe or maybe not a age related issue. Talking about sleeping one sided he normally does sleep one sided though I'm not comfortable seeing it richiemcgold: |

Kelzlez:Why would a medical practitioner give you medication without telling you exactly what the problem is that the medication is meant to treat? ๐ค |
| Re: Please Help. What's This On My Grand Father's Ear by Kobojunkie: 12:25am On Jan 10 |
Kelzlez:. There are 105-year-olds out there who are in good shape for their age who do not have such issues. There is a reason why his ear looks inflamed, and it does not look keloidal from the picture; He needs to be seen by a doctor to look at it, and at his stats is the best way to determine what it is and the cause. That he is old is no reason why he should not be comfortable and/or well. ![]() |

Was your grand father a boxer or wrestler when he was young? They call this stuff cauliflower ears, very common among boxers, kick boxers and boxers what most of them do is to use a stringe and suck out the blood from it. |

Are you human at all? Must you comment if you don't have something to say. If only they do mental test on people before their admission into this site, your likes who lack emotion intelligence won't be here thesicilian: |

Kelzlez:Age-related? A second opinion would not hurt at all, since simply saying something is age-related without explaining as to why it happened to the one ear and not the other, or any other tissue in the body, to me is weird as f-ck. Is the ear it happened to older than the other ear? ๐ฅฑ๐ฅฑ๐ฅฑ |

| Re: Please Help. What's This On My Grand Father's Ear by ChybuzzDD(m): 5:07am On Jan 10 |
Kelzlez:In Plastic surgery, we call this a Cauliflower Ear(Auricular Haematoma >>>>bleeding into the ear between the overlying skin and the ear cartilage). If it's still early, the blood collection can be drained through an incision; if not, the deformity will become permanent and will require a more specialized procedure for reconstruction. |

A medical personnel should put in a syringe and suck out the fluid. Place him on antibiotics. Happened to my then 16 year old back then. A doctor sucked out the slimy liquid substance and placed him on a strong antibiotics. It's gone. 5 years going now, no more swelling. |

Kelzlez:Calm down, before you go and rupture your brain aneurysm. Do you really need the opinion of strangers before you as a supposed adult can take your ailing father for a proper check up at a specialist centre? When you act like a clownn, you'll be treated as such. Simple. |
| Re: Please Help. What's This On My Grand Father's Ear by CJStarz: 10:50am On Jan 10 |
Kelzlez:My initial fear but then, it didn't hurt my boy But then, strong antibiotics will dry it up. |
